How To Make A Stimulating Baby Playmobil

A playmobil is one of the most common and first educational
toys parents buy. It is also one of the most powerful, but
underestimated baby stimulation toys.
A playmobil is typically a device where several colorful
objects are hung from horizontal rods or another suspender
mechanism.

The mobil is then hung in Baby's cot to provide
much-needed stimulation.
Many parents have also realized that playmobils are
effective learning tools, but few know what exactly to look
for. Many parents are led to believe that commercial ones
are far superior to others.

Fewer even realize that you need not necessarily fork out a
lot for the latest hyped plastic to get amazing results.
Commercial ones are fine as far as they go, but the
playmobil that's described here has many other great
advantages.

- The degree of stimulation the playmobil delivers can be
varied
- Baby always pay full attention to this playmobil
and seldom loses interest
- The hanging objects move slower, are easier to follow and
expand visual attention
- This playmobil stimulates grasping with one hand and
using both hands together
- And finally, an aspect that no other playmobil allows...
discovering the texture and shape of the different objects
A primary objective of your baby's early learning process is
to get several senses and skills to work together on one
single object... typically seeing, feeling, tasting,
reaching and hearing.
This playmobil does all of this... without costing you an arm
and a leg.

How to make the playmobil

One

Find a long dowel rod (at least 12mm, ½", diameter) or
even a normal yardstick to use as a suspender bar for the
playmobil's crosspiece.

Two

Fix this dowel or yardstick (suspender bar) to the top
of the cot approximately above Baby's chest.

Three

Use a piece of cardboard or plastic tube, a wooden clothes
hanger (removing the wire hook) or even a rubber hose as the
crosspiece. No sharp objects are allowed

Four

Tie a strong piece of string to the middle of the
crosspiece. Tie the other end to the suspender bar at the
top of the cot.

Five

Tie a piece of string to each end of the playmobil's
crosspiece.

Six

Tie small objects to the end of the string tied to the
crosspiece. The object must dangle at the distance of Baby's
outstretched hand when lying in the cot.

Seven

Tie other small objects to the same crosspiece, making
sure the crosspiece still balances.

Eight

Finally... make sure that the swing of the crosspiece is
such that when the Baby grabs an object, s/he can put it in
his/her mouth.
The best objects to hang from the crosspiece are colorful
booties, blocks, rattles, squeaky toys, small plastic
bottles and teething rings.
In fact...
You can use almost any child-safe object as long as it's
colorful, have different textures and contrasts light and
dark.

Top Tip

Tie fewer objects to the crosspiece at a time,
but change them more often... maybe once or more often per
week. This eliminates overstimulation and keeps Baby's
curiosity and interest for much longer.
This playmobil encourages and teaches all of Baby's senses
to work together. Once this skill has been fully mastered,
Baby can readily progress to learn what objects are for and
what can be done with them.
