My name is Allyn and has been since my birth in 1979. (Pronounced "Allen" even'thought I'm a woman) People regularly comment on my name and how much they like it. As a female, I liked having a different name. I have met another female Allyn with this spelling about 10 years ago and several with it as a middle name. The'statistics are clearly off. My parents modified the name "Ellyn" and changed the E to an A without concern about the meaning, but I have read over the years that it means handsome or precious in Celtic, but have no idea.
"Allyn" is my middle name and I do get lots of compliments on it. It is very unique and it goes well with my fist name "Sarah". A lot of my friends want "Allyn" as their children's middle names as well(:
My name is Allyn I'm 18 and it is pronounced Alan. I as named after y father Alan. People I'meet always commnt on my name I'm very excited that I have found out other girls names are Allyn! I rarely meet anyone that has herd of this name and it upsets me that people think It's a boys name when in fact I realized It's a blessing to have a different name and it be rare. (:
My name is Allyn and I enjoy having a name that is so uncommon for a woman - at least once I got older than 13. When I was a small child I wanted to be like everyone else and when I was 12, I asked my teacher to call me "Lyn". That only lasted a year until I realized that being different is better. People always expected me to be male - I was rushed for a fraternity! Put in the boys gym class etc. I know a few people with Sllyn for a middle name (their mothe's knew me and liked the name. I hope one day someone I know will use it for a first name
My name is Allyn Elizabeth. I was born in 1993. I have had mixed emotions about my name. I constantly have to repeat it, spell it, be questioned why my parents would even'think of giving me a boy name. I went by Allie in the elementary school. I then de decided to respect my parents and go by what they gave me. I now, at 31, seriously want to change it legally to Ally, or Allie. I want a more feminine name.
My name is Elizabeth Allyn. I always liked my name. I will be passing my middle name on to my daughter.
This is my middle name! It was my fathe's first Name and his father's as well. It is also now my sons middle name. Does anyone know the history of how this name came into being❤️ what are It's origins❤️ I have been curious and have not been able to find any information on it.
I named my daughter Allyn in 2018. I actually thought I had mad up this spelling until I googled it. You see, my daughter Allyn (who goes by A.J.) is the youngest of 3 girls. The other two are Avalyn (pronounced Ava-lyn) and Addisyn. So I needed another name that'started with an "A" and could end in yn. I LOVE the name Allyn and have begun calling her that. She will go by A.J. in school (because my family fI'mly beli'ves in nicknames) but I think Allyn is a beautiful name for a girl. My name is Andra and I go by Andi. :) I am so glad that I have found many wonderful women with this name. She is not alone.....
i adopted a little girl and she came with the name Alyn (pronounced uh-lyn) Nicolette. i have never met anyone with the name and this was the closes i have ever found to her name. she does get allen all the time. not sure where the name came from and i cannot find anything on the origin or anyone named Alyn but it is cute.
I was born with the name Allyn and got a draft notice at 18. My mom said I should❤️ve gone and see what they said. However as I grow older, I got a lot of compliments and criticI'ms on the name. My second marriage, I. married a macho cop and changed my name legally to Ellyn. I am now sorry that I did that and I think it hurt my parents. I'miss my name. Thinking back, I think I could have gone with Allie as a nickname instead of changing my name
To the person who posted it was old school: How dare you! I love my name and that's what matters. Who cares about what you think❤️ Perhaps you have a nasty common name like Madeline or Agnes. Shame on YOU!
My name is Allyn Schneider. I am 25 years old and from Minneapolis, MN. As a child I used to hate my name because it was not like everyone else. Now i LOVE it. I am one of a kind and always remembered for my name.
My name is Allyn . My mother pronounced it a lyn I always tell people it was like she wasn't sure what the name was such as a-sue, a-mary, a-lori . THe A is a short vowel. I have never met another a llyn but I did give my son the name as his middle name but I pronounced his name as allen. I have had to spell and explain my name all 60 yrs of my life. I have surprised several doctors because they think it is a male. My children said I should use my middle name because people think they had two dads. I have never liked the name but have gotten many compliments on it. It is a pain.It would have been easier if my Mother had spelled it Alynn. Teache's never got it right . In fact one teacher called me ellen for a whole year.
My name is Allyn. Born in '79. Mother found the name in the credits of some TV movie. I am the youngest of 5 and all start with "A". They put a bunch of "A" names in a bowl and pulled out Allyn. It's cool I think. I get a lot of compliments. And I only ever have to say my first name and people know exactly who I am.
Allyn is my granddaughter's middle name and I love it! It comes from a combinatiin of her parents' middle names.
My 4 year old granddaughters name is Allynn Grace she was named after her uncle who passed away as a baby Allen I love her name and the'spelling of it but you do get some strange looks from people when'they find out you named a girl Allynn one of my biggest fear is her being bullied at school because of her name but she'started preschool this year and so far she has had no problems from her classmates
ughhhh, im so tired of people spelling my name haley. its HAYLEY! thats the way It'should be spelled, because haley sounds like HALLLLLLY. like in the parent trap.
It's a nice name but I wish it was popular and at least know It's origin
I named my daughter Allynne in 2013. It's pronounced Allen. It's a combination of my husband's middle name Allen and my middle name, Lynne. We know one woman 50y/o with the name Allyn. I wish Allynne's name was on this list.
My name is Allyn. I was kind-of named after Allyn Warner Gamble; Miss Maine 1983 (my mom heard the name while watching the Miss American pagent and really liked it). I can'tell you that people tend to remember me more because my name; since It's an uncommon girl's name. I will admit, yes, i've had people mistake my gender because of my name. But, for the most part, I get far more compliments and nice comments for my name. It's a girl's name people don't forget. Plus, it is a former beauty queen's name!
My name is Allyn. My father's name is Alan and I was named after him. I asked him once if he had wanted a boy and he'said "no." he'said that he thought the name was cute. It did cause some confusion when people thought it was a boy name. I have gone by Lyn for years but recently found the Gaelic meaning is "bright." That made me like the name a little better.
