I am 63 hand my name is Barrie on my birth cert, but I have spelled it Barry all my life. I didn't know it was spelled ending with ie 'till I started school. I was given'the nick name Butch as a baby and I like that name. I never liked the name Barry. Growing up with a nick name I liked better has always been a conflict. When I am called Barry, to me, that person is not a close friend. If they call me Butch, they feel closer to me. I don't know why I don't care for Barry, I guess most people dont like their name. No one ever made fun of the name Barry. I guess that it wasn't common until after'school with Barry Goldwater, the'singer and a few othe's showed up. That probably doesn't tell anyone anything. I do kinda like like the fact that it is spelled Barrie now that I am older because it is a less common spelling than Barry. Because Barry has become legal on everything I deal with, It's to late to change now. If I was to do it all over again I would use it and spell it Barrie.
