Brad is of Old English origin. It's based on a surname and place name, Bradley, that has made its transition into a popular first name. It incorporates the elements 'brad,' meaning 'broad' and 'lēah,' translating to 'wood or clearing', which together craft the picturesque meaning 'broad meadow'.
Brad carries a simplicity that has led many celebrities to adopt it, most notably actor Brad Pitt. Additionally, musicians like Brad Paisley and characters like Brad Majors from the cult classic 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' bring fame to this name.
In terms of personality traits, Brads are often known for their open, friendly nature. They exude a natural ease which draws others near, mirroring the welcoming wide-open spaces suggested by their name.
In popularity, Brad had its heyday in US in the mid-20th century, but its timeless charm ensures that it remains a go-to choice for many parents.

Many people assume It's short for Bradly or Bradford, but It's just Brad.
I am n't sure of the name Brad and that is why I have selected the "n't sure" option above. My name is Brad and it is pronounced "Brad". People almost never pronounce it wrong but sometimes people think I am saying "Brett" but that's more my own issue with mumbling. I have a friend who used to give me a hard time about that. His name is John (pronounced "John"). I am the only Brad I know and I almost never meet an'ther Brad. It's an extremely lonely and alien'ting feeling. That's why I am n't sure about the name "Brad".
my name is brad and i love it. plus it comes with cool nicknames like B-Rad!!!
Brad is my 8-year-old son's name (Bradley) and my husband's name (Bradford). I call them B1 (husband) and B2(son). I'met B1 when B2 was 6, so It's purely coincidental! I just love the name and they are the only two Brads I know!

Hello, my name is Brad. I was born in 1965. While growing up in'the early 50❤️s there were n't that many guys named Brad in my town. In fact I only knew of one in my hometown and one in college. i've always liked the name. My parents came up with my name while eating dinner at a restaurant in our hometown named Bradfords. They were sitting at the window with the name on it, while discussing different possible names and my dad looked at the window and said what about Brad. My mother agreed and that was that.
My name is difficult for people that learned spanish as their primary language. They say Brid or Bread. Finally someone at work said NO, "like Brad Pitt." No problem since then. I do get called Brandon or Brian a lot.
