I live in the UK and my name is Danae. My family and I pronounce it as Da-nay. I love my name as it is always a talking point and ice breaker when I'meet new people. It also makes me giggle when at the age of 21 my aunties still spell my name wrong on birthday cards! I really like unusual names and it makes me feel more of an individual as none of my friends have the'same name.

Many people seem to have a real hard time pronouncing my name'so I break my name into two syllables in order to have my name'said the way I like It'said Dar as in Darn and nae as in neigh of a horse...Darneigh = Danae. I have only met one other Danae in my life time and I have had a lamb and a friend of my parents' named their daughter after me. Danae is an awesome name and when I tell people the origin of my name they appear to be quite impressed....

People also think the name is French. It is not, it is Greek and they pronounce it entirely different as in the movie it is pronounced "Dan ai"

Dana❤️ is my name and honestly I used to hate it when I was little because I could never find a mug or whatever with it on it but as i've gotten older i've been able to appreciate it a lot more! I was born in 1980 and grew up the only Danae most ever knew. Once in a GREAT while I'd meet someone who knew another Danae, but they were always younger than I. MANY people ignore the *e* and pronounce it Dana, i've also been called Diane, Danielle (don't know how they managed THAT), Deanna, everything but Danae.
