My name is Gena and pronounced Gina. Im only 13 now so I really like it because It's so unique. But people always think It's pronounced 'Jenna'.
It's usually pronounced wrong. Most spell it Gina. It's spelled exactly how It'sounds
People frequently say the name Gena like "Jenna," which I find annoying- especially because that's a much "newer" name and hardly existed prior to the 1982s. I was named after my grandmother who was born in 1914- this spelling seems to be older than than the "i" form, Gina.
My name is Gena pronounced like Jenna. I was born in 1975 so it is very unusual for someone my age to have this name and be pronounced like Jenna. I have struggled with being called Gina my entire life! People always spell it Gina and pronounce it incorrectly. i've even'thought about having the'spelling legally changed to Jenna because I'd rather people say it correctly and misspell it then'the other way around. It's always strange to me when I correct people on how to say it then'they always revert back to saying Gina. It's only 4 letters so I'm not sure why they can't remember how to say it. I try to ignore it but It's my name and It's important to get people's name right! I would rather people ask me how to say it if they aren't sure instead of guessing. I'm never offended when someone ask me :)
I have not had any issues with people pronouncing my name, Gena, incorrectly. I was the only person in my school who had this spelling. I attended school with a Gina, a Jena and Jeanna. It is definitely a unique name and I have grown to love it. Most people will spell it incorrectly, though.
haha, i suffer from the'same thing but completely flopped. When I was younger people would often (and still do think) my name "Jenna" is pronounced Gina (and i still allow my siblings to keep that as my nickname). I find it very ironic people suffer from the other'side with my given name
I used to hate my name because when I was little the kids would call me genie and ask me to grant them wishes. But now It's great cause I have never met any one with my name.
