Ilene meaning

My name is Ilene and alot of people spell it wrong sometimes they spell it ilean and its funny to me.. Teache's often pronunce it wrong but it is actually pronunced i-lean.. But dont spell it dat way please i love my name and i plan on naming my daughter kalene.. :)

My name is always pronounced (should be "I lean") and spelled wrong. i've seen it with at least 7 different spellings: Eileen, Eilene, Aileen, Ailene, Ilene, Ileen, Ilean. But if I tell the really bad joke, what does a one legged woman call he'self❤️ (I lean) - people don't forget it. Also the'song, Come On Eileen helped, but the'song Goodnight Irene confuses and more people know Irene's than they do Ilene's.

My Mom and I are both named Ilene. My grandparents wanted to combine their mother's names: Idella and Lena and came up with Ilene. I was named after my mother because when my parents were about to agree on the name, Dawn, my Dad said he had an ex-girlfriend named Dawn. So that ended the discussion and pretty much the only name they could agree on was my mother's.

I know one girl named Ilene and she is both beautiful and brilliant. It is a wonderful variation on a classic name.

I am not crazy about my name, especially because it is spelled with an I than an E. My mom wanted to call me Michelle because I have brother named Michael and she always wanted a Micheal and Michelle. My dad wanted Ilene. Dad won that one. It wasn't until after they named me that my dad has a cousin with the'same name. (He had too many cousins to count.) My middle name is Marie, my last name begins with an A so my intials are IMA. My 8th grade teacher kept telling me to marry someone with the last name Over, so I could be Ilene Over. In two companies I worked for there have been 3 Ilene's and we all spelled our names differently.

A pretty variation of Eileen. I grew up with neighbor my age named Ilene.
