My daughters name is Isla Rose, she is a walking party!!! We love her name so much, its different without being weird, it has always got such a nice response however it can be pronounced incorrectly when read. It is pronounced eye-lah as in Island. We did think about changing the spelling but decided to stick to the traditional way and im now glad, Isla Fisher (from the movie wedding crashers) is now making the name more known! Its a beautiful name!

I write in response to the comments posted regarding this name as "weird" and "ugly". I picked this name for my beautiful baby daughter as i choose to ignore the arrogance people feel the need to express!!! By this i mean "mispronouncing" this beautiful name or simply ignoring the fact that we as individuals choose this name because WE like it!! What one person may regard as "ugly" another may regard as "cute"!! We are ALL different and i find such comments extremely unnecessary!

I left the first comment, my daughters name is Isla, Rose is her middle name. As she is getting older(she is now 6) we are finding that more people know the name...its more common now then in 2004 when she was born. We now have 2 xIsla's (in town)and another one pronounced the same but spelt Aila. It is a very old fashioned, feminine, pretty name! It is always getting compliments.
