Our 20 month old daughters name is Kaia Reece. Her Father is Hawaiian and wanted a Hawaiian name. We wanted a boy to name Kai..but when we found out it was a girl we added the a to make it feminine. We both love the ocean and she loves the water...so her name is perfect for her. Even'though most people pronouce it Kia like the car!
Just a correction, from a South Pacific Islander... Adding an "a" to the end of Kai - does not femenize it... it changes the meaning all together. Kai is already a unisex term, depending on the'suffix added to it, is what appropriates gender. Traditionally, KaI'more than likely would not stand alone whether it was by suffix or the following name, an ocean/sea cannot stand on its own. It can be strong ocean, or whispering sea, magical waters... you get the point. Aside from giving colonized names/surnames, naming your children is a lot more intricate than how it "rolls off the tongue". As for people hearing it in a Bob Marley tune and naming a child after it... Bob was not referring to anything pure. That is, unless it was pure marijuana. I'm not attacking anyone, just wanted to encourage a bit of free thinking on the part of soon-to-be parents. I'm not addressing the'swed/Norway meanings at all - b/c I clearly am not. I can only comment on the way people freely/randomly pick names based on how It'sounds - as opposed to what it means and how it resonates for that child. They will carry the resonance/vibration forever... that is, if they don't decide to change their names altogether. Think about it... would you like some kid named Moses to feel he has the right to part your daughter's red sea❤️❤️❤️ Or some other horney teenager wanting to see how "pure" your daughters' goods are❤️❤️❤️ Hope this posting helps :)

I'm currently in the process of getting a legal name change for the'spelling of my name to make it more user-friendly for those who are english-speaking, plus It's so annoying constantly having it butchered and mispronounced. I'm just not sure whether I should spell it Kaia or Kaya...Anyway, tons of people tell me how they love my name and think it is beautiful which is a nice compliment.

I named my daughter Kaia Grace. Kaia was my great, great grandmas name in Norway and am told it is one of the first female names recorded in Norway. She is almost 11 yers old and sometimes loves the name and sometimes doesn't. I hate when people call her Kay uh. We have passed by people calling their little ones Kaia on rare occassions, but haven't actually met one yet.

My daughter, born in May 2013, is named Kaia (KI-YA). I do find that many people find it difficult to pronounce-- I am actually shocked when people pronounce it correctly! I was also bummed out when I found out that Cindy Crawford had named her daughter Kaia--but I am very glad that the name has not taken on huge popularity. My daughter is the only Kaia in her'school and I hope It'stays that way!!!
everyone spells it kiai, it doesnt even sound right i dont get it, that kind of makes me mad, but i like my name its different!
I love this name and chose it for our puppy because of its "gaia" implications and because it is the Norwegian petname for Katherine (and she's a norwegian elkhound). Word of caution: many people have asked me if I have named her Kaia because it is another name for "ganga" (aka marijuana). This definitely was not my reason, and you may want to consider this before saddling your child with this implication.

My name is Kaia Catherine, and people always pronounce it wrong! It's pronounced K-I-UH. I don't know anyone else with this name. I was named after the wife of a dwarf in the movie Willow, and my parents thought it was adorable. They made up the'spelling.
We named our daughter Kaia b. 11/23/04 - we considered Kia at first but didn't want to get confused with the inexpesive Korean automaker... She's half Korean and quarter'swedish and boy is she pretty. We love the multicultralness of the name. We love that it is still an unique name in Connecticut. Most people love the name when'they hear it. Yes, I also heard that it is a Norwegian pet name for Katherine. My husband and I are outgoing athletic people and the name Kaia feels like it embodies that energy. Our daughter is just that. -Kaia's mom
We named our daughter Kaia Blair and we just love it. We have heard of at least 6 other Kaia or Kaiya's since she was born 18 months ago. We love her name more and more. Perfect name.
I gave my daughter this name, my friend suggested it, and I loved it... I don't know anyone else with this name, and so far people don't have to much trouble pronouncing it.
We named our baby girl Kailee and we pronounce it Kylee. KaI'means "Willow Tree" in Navajo and Lee is from my husband's name. We love the name, It's beautiful!

We named our daughter Kaia, the name popped into my head while walking the dog. Inter'stingly, the baby only every kicked and responded to that name - so we went with it! Her middle name is: Rei (pronounded Ray). We've gone with Kaia ReI'meaning Pure of spirit and othe's seem to like it = but most importantly we love it!
Our daughter's name is Kaia Marie. It holds specical significance to my husband and I seeing my name is "Kai". We decided to add an "A" onto the name Kai and came up with Kaia. She's named after me, her Momma! We receive compliments ALL the time, beautiful name, beautiful girl...can't disagree! Up until we named her Kaia I had NEVER heard the name used by othe's, It's definately gaining popularity.
My daughter was born July 3, 2020 and we names her Kaia Reese. We love the name because it is different!
Don't know anyone else with my name...particularly never heard of anyone older than me with it! I'd like to lay claim to being the oldest Kaia I know at the grand ages of 22!
My name is Kaia and there many different meaning from many countries. My mother is from Papua New Guinea and my father is Australian, and in my mothe's language (motu) it means knife (sounds weird but hey, its my name) i was named after my mother great grandmother, and i have about 20 cousins in Port Moresby with the'same name. I know that in Estonia Kaia means music, in another part of papua new guinea it means volcano, and in bali i think it means rich. i think my name is awesome!

i absolutely ADORE the name Kaia. i would like my first daughters names to be Kaia Faith (Kaia means PURE and Faith is pretty self explanitory. Faith means alot to my family cuz we've been'through veryyy rough times!) but now i am not able to name any of my kids that because my cousin is havin a baby girl shortly and naming her Kaia Leigh.. im soooooo angry at her, she knew how much that name means to me! ):
Kaia was my dog's name. She died today. She was beautiful.
I also named my daughter Kaia Anna Grace back in 2015. Most do spell it wrong, or try to pronounce it with sounding all vowels out. My daughter Kaia and the name are both quite unique.
We named our daughter Kaia Willow. We first heard the name in the fantasy fI'm, "Willow". Kaia is Willow's wife, although the character name is spelt "Kaiya". We are all Earth signs of the Zodiac, and since Kaia means "Earth" we really felt it was appropriate.

My daughter's name is Khia. I'made up the'spelling. We pronounce it with a long I, but most people say Kee-Ya. We are thinking of changing the'spelling to Kaia hopeing it will correct the problem. I am assuming Kaia is pronounced with a long "I" as well, correct❤️ Ki-Ya
I once met a finnish woman of 56 years with the name Kaia.
My daughter is 7yrs old and her name is Kaia Rose. She is a very beautiful girl, who is fun loving and diffently represents the meaning of Kaia in all languages.
My daughter is 2 1/2 and we named her Kaia because she was conci'ved when we were in Hawaii. my husband wanted to spell it like Bob marley (Kaya) but to me that looks like It'says Kay-a. People do pronounce her name wrong all the time but it is such a beautiful name, and she gets told that all the time!
I love this name too. My daughter's name is Kaia and I didn't know it was this popular. All Kaia's are superstars. The one from Dallas Texas will be on the'scene soon, so look out world here comes KAIA.
My daughter is called Kaia Lily. We think its a beautiful name, but does get spelled and pronounced wrong all the time.

Our daughter was born April9th 2011.My husband and wanted to give our daughter a story so we named her Kaia Vega.Kaia means of the Earth and Vega means shooting star. We told her'she was a beautiful star shining brightly in the universe that came down to shine brightly here on Earth.-Her name'suits her perfectly!!
Kaia is Norwegian (Norsk) for "little pet". My great-grandmother was named Kaia, and I'migrated to America in 1881. My sister is also named Kaia, and like many othe's, people mispronounce it "kai" or "kay-ya" W. Larsen
heya my name kaia.... im 14 years old i used to hate my name because everyone spelt and said it wrong.....and they called me kia after the car.... but i know now that its special and i love it.... wow...:P
I'm Greek and I chose this name for my daughter, Kaia, because you It's origin (Greek)and It's meaning (Earth)
My 4mth daughter has this name which we of course love as does the majority of people who have heard it, we had never heard it before but have since met a few Kaia's. For us it has duel meaning as in New Zealand (our home) it means chiefly (which we take to mean bossy!) in Maori although usually for boys but it means that our daughters name reflects apart of her heritage
My daughter Kaia Mackenzie was born on August 21st and my mom was going to call her Kynzi but she fell in love with the name Kaia as everyone else has in my family. Often'times people spell it 'Kia' which is the name of a car so it is rather bothe'some.
It's never pronounced right. We chose this name for our daughter based on "Gaia" meaning "earth" although the Hawaiian roots mean "sea"
I have twin daughters and one of their names is Kaia Rose. I love it!
my daughter is Kya Jade. I didn't think people would know how 2 pronounce it if we chose 2 spell it Kaia. I heard the name on TV one day and have always liked It'since. Ive heard of Kyla and Kai but hadn't heard kya.
My daughter Kaia Sharae was born in Nov. 09. We pronounce it with 2 syllables. I first heard it on the Real World TV show. I knew about the "of the'sea/of the earth" meanings but not wise, bossy, strong, warrior! That is definitely my Kaia!
I named my daughter this - I think It's beautiful, obviously.
Hi, my name is Kaia too, my full name is Kaia Isabel Nicole and my mommy picked my name because it reminded them of Hawaii...our favorite place in the whole world. I am 5

We named our daughter Kaia Amari when she was born in 2018. We loved the rich origin of the name and It's unique style.
I chose "Kaia" for my new daughter because of a family tradition of naming females with the initials "KAH". I am a nature lover, and Gaea/Gaia is the ancient Greek mother-earth goddess. "Kaia" is another Greek pronounciation of the name, so it was perfect. I hope that'she will grow to be a lover of all things green and good too.
Yes my daughters name is Laila it can be pronounced Lah la or la ee la... It is Arabic/ Hebrew in origin and means "Beautiful"!
My middle name is Kaia (born in 1993) and when my husband first heard my middle name, he'said that if we ever had a daughter, it too would be her name. On 5/8/06, we had a little girl, and the name continues...Kaia Marlene (another family name)
My Name is ka❤️a Cam❤️lia , born in 2004 in montreal canada and I'met my first kaia this year so cute .

I'm 14 and as i've gotten older'several more people have been pronoucing it right, (ki-ah), they used to pronounce it kia like the car.
This was the name of the ghost that haunted the theatre I used to work in. I loved ths ghastly name from the moment I first heard it.
My daughter's name is Kaia. She was born in August 2013. I LOVE the name, but I hated that Cindy Crawford named her daughter Kaia about 2 weeks after my daughter was born (trendy, here we come). I don't like trendy names, but thankfully it hasn't really caught on like I thought it would after Cindy Crawford made the name "Hollywood". I have found that most people pronounce it correctly, but tend to want to spell it wrong once they know her name (Kya/Kia are the most common mispellings). Also, the name has a TON of meanings across a variety of cultures. Kaia - Hawaiian: "the'sea"; Greek: "earth" Kaiya - Japanese: "forgiveness" Kaya - Hopi: "my little elder'sister" or "wise child"; Korean (original spelling was Kaja): "to go"; Bengali (Indian): "a fragrant flower"; Tagalog (Filipino): "can do"; Turkish: "rock"; Sanskrit: "body" or "group, multitude" Chaya - Hebrew: "alive" Kaja - Polish/Czech: pet form of Katherine "pure"

I'm a Kaia in Australia, I'm 39 and have loved my name all my life...its beautiful difference and Scandinavian heritage. Once you correct peoples mispronunciation and spelling, they never forget it!
This is my daughter's name. But I spell it "Makenah" because I wanted something different. I don't like it as much as I did when she was born though...because I hear that its getting really common, and I don't like common names. Her name'suits her I guess...but I would have rather had something a little more weird & different! But its still a good name.

It's inter'sting to know there's different meaning to the name i just taught it meant sea
I was born in Estonia, and I bless my Mum for giving me a beautiful unique name. I am 67 years old and have never met another Kaia -only a few variants like Kai or Kaya. An acquaintantce of mine told me she'd called her baby girl Kaia after me. Also named 'Kaia' after me is a cast iron statue in Uranquinty, NSW, Australia, of a migrant lady with her two small children and a suitcase. However, what leaves a bad taste in the mouth, is when people hear my name, and then call their horse or dog Kaia!
My name is Kaia Karoline, that is a Norwegian name, usualy written like: (Kaja, Kaija). The name comes from Katarina. Alots of people really like the name, and i like it very much.
I just named my new kitten Kaia. I love both the name and the'spelling. My mother, however, insists on calling here Chaya (we're Jewish!).
My daughter name is Kaia Marie. We considered Kaia Ann but didn't want people to confuse her with the pepper. She was born in 2016 and it was the only name that my husband and I could agree upon, I guess we were both looking for perfection. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this name. Almost everyone I tell comments that It's a beautiful name.
My daughter was born July 2014, her name is Kaia Raine. i've always loved the name Kai, but I was watching a TV show and a very handsome young man's name was KAYA. I chose the Haiwaiian form. Yes most people call her KAY-a. It is extremely annoying, not to mention the invitations for...Kia, Kya, Kiya.
Our daughter is named Kaia and she was born September 1, 2002, so you all owe me money (kidding). We wanted something Scandinavian to go with her dad's Norwegian last name. However, she's 13th generation American and looks Irish like me. (Welcome to the melting pot). I'm so pleased she likes her name. When you hang a name on a child, you never know if they'll like it, especially one with three vowels that'she will have to spell and pronounce her whole life.
well my name is kalene and people do spell it wrong its because its a uniq name
I love it because It's my name. But it gets annoying when everyone pronounces it wrong
My daughter is Kaia Rhiann. I didn't like the two together at first (saying them sounds a little like saying cayenne.. as in hot pepper lol) But I only say that when she is in trouble! I have had a few people mis-pronounce her name by calling her Kay-a. She is Ky-ya. She is beautiful and so intelligent. She turned 2 in January. There is another girl about 8 months older with the'same name, but I think it is spelled Khaia.
My name is Kaia, I have a story the'same as some other people that get there name pronounced as kaya
I just had my second daughter on September 16 and we named her Kaia Samantha. We couldn't decide on a spelling (Kaia, Kaya, or Kaiya), but finally agreed Kaia was the prettiest. Our oldest daughter is Hannah and we call her Hannah Banana. When people ask how to say her'sisters name, my daughter tells them It's Kaia Papaya.
I named my baby girl Kaia Avery..she was born August 15/08. I heard the name one day early in my pregnancy and just fell in love with it. It'seems rare and so beautiful..although I'm meeting more and more people with the name these days!
I love the name Kaia, its totally killer! All my friends on my space love it.
I recognize that Kaia is both a Scandinavian and a Hawaiian originating name... but in both instances, it is a female name. To the posting from a few days ago... shoulda named him "Kai"!!! DOH!!! In the US... Kaia was used just under 8,000 times for girls and not a single instance for a boy. Yes, the name does mean "pure" but... you know... just sayin!
Kaia is my dog's name. She is a bull terrier cross chow and is now 10 years old. In South Africa, kaya means "home" in Zulu.
I named my daughter Kaia based on a city my husband and I went to in Turkey. The city was called Katakaya and shortened to Kaya. We liked the'softer Kaia as opposed to the hard Y sound in Kaya. Many people have called her Kia (like the car) and some have even called her Kyle...❤️ I finally got my parents able to remember her name by telling them it is like kayak only without the K at the end and no hard Y sound......2 years later they are still trying to spell it.
i know 5 people with the name kaia including myself. My mom got the name from the movie called Willow(they were dwarfs) and my dad knew a women named kaia that was very inspirational.

My name is Kaia (Kai-ya). I guess I'm an old one for the USA, born 1990. my name is out of a Norwegian name book & it means dock or landing, it also can be associated with Gaia or Gaea, Greek for mother earth. There's the Kaya confusion & it may mean chicken in Chinese. BUT i've always loved my name, being different is beautiful! Kaia is a beautiful name...
My name is Kaia. It is pronounced almost always in the right way, but there's another'story with spelling the name. People often want to write it "Kaija". The right way to pronounce it, is "kai-a" and it is not a very seldom name in Estonia.

I named my baby girl Kaia because in Hawaiian 'Kai' means ocean, but I thought It'sounded more feminine with the 'a' at the end. People sometimes hesitate when'they read her name, but for the most part they pronounce it correctly. So far, she's the only Kaia I know!!
My name is Kaia, in Norwegian it can also mean the plase that you set you'r boat. I love my name, and mye name is Kaia Karoline, and here in Norway it is more usual to prenounse Kaia with a J. Like Kaja. But it is a very common name in my country :)

My 5 year old daughter is named Kaia. She loves her name, as does everyone who hears it. We have never had anything but positive feedback. My name is Maya, so people think it is cute that we rhyme. It does get mispronounced as Kia or Kay-a occasionally, but i've always had people call me Mia or May-a and I just got used to it.
Because the name "Kaia" has so many vowel sounds, it turns up in lots of languages. In both Sanskrit and Hebrew, it means "life force." In Norwegian, Kaia means "field stone". In Hungarian, Kaia means "friendly house ghost!" In Danish and Hawaiian, It'stands for "ocean." In Afrikanse, it means "hearth," but ýpicayune kaiaý means ýouthouse.ýKaia is also the Greek Goddess of the Earth.
I am usually called Kia or Kaya. My name is usually spelled Kia, Kaya, Kala, kara, or Kiai. If this name is so popular, why can't anyone spell or pronounce it❤️
My name is Kaia Lee, I was born in July of 1994. My mother got the idea from the hebrew work chaya...meaning life and wanted to change some of the letters around to make it alittle more Americanized. I love my name now but as a child no one every pronounced it right. But its good to be different
I named my beautiful wee girl Kaia Jane (dob 16.08.07) and everyone comments on what a lovely name it is. In New Zealand we also have boys called Kaea (pronounced the'same) which i've been'told means chiefly (it is in the first nation language, maori) however I have only ever heard of one wee guy by that name. I love that Kaia is such a feminine (sorry maori boys) and is unique yet not strange!!!

I found it to be a boy's name(Ashlin) however changed the i to a y and made it for my daughter :D We have since found a few with this name thanks to the internet :D I couldn't imagine my daughter with any other name, she is as unique as this name is :D

I named my daughter Kaia Mercedes almost nine years ago! I absolutely LOVE the name, some people pronounce it wrong, but she's quick to correct them! I had never heard it before, but i've met quite a few little kids (boys and girls)with the name'since. The meaning I found was "Divine" her middle name means "Gift". She is exactly that!
My daughters name is Kaia born in 2014. the name means "earth" an hawiian and "of the earth" in greek. so cool her first words where "moon, mama, moon" as she pointed up at the full moon in the dark of the night! THATS MY LIL EARTH ANGEL!!

My sister's name is Kaia and it is one of the most beautyful names I know. The name is quite common in Norway however'spelled differently, Kaja. But Kaia is definetely the best way! Some people confuses it with kaya which of course is something way different (ref Bob Marley's song "I want kaya know"....

We live in South Africa and it is often'the first time people have herad his name'so we often get people pronouncing it either Rave or Rafı (Rafay). Correct way to say it is like safe with an R. Have heard of Americans with the name but never anyone else here in South Africa
My wife and I named our daughter Kaia. We had heard the name Aya and thought since our son's name began with a K, we would add the K to Aya and change the'spelling so people wouldn't pronounce it like Kay-uh. Imagine our surprise after'she was born to find out that Cindy Crawford had named her daughter Kaia, spelled the'same way, about a year before. We were kind of bummed but thought it was cool, too.
Kaja, spelled with a J or I, is frequently used in scandinavia. The maning of the name is "pure". -And there is not possible to pronounce it wrong up north, it comes natural.
My daughter, Kaia, was born October 2012. I had met a girl named Kaija (pronounced the'same) and fell in love with the name. More and more over the past few years i've been hearing the name. Looks like it is gaining popularity.
I named my son Kaia we live in Hawaii. The translation is Kai- ocean a- breath. In Fiji it means clam shell. In Tonga it means eat now. In Hindi it means body. Im not sure Bob Marly ment it to be weed I think that it could mean home or shelter. "Got to have Kaia now when'the rain is falling.
we named our daughter Abbigail in 07. Husband wanted the name Abbi but I wanted the gail bit on the end lol. Instead of teaching her to spell Abbigail with only 1 B but then having to add an extra B in when shortening it to Abbi (as Abi looks stupid) we decided to add the extra B. didn't have any idea how common it actually was (I have never met another one with 2 B's in New Zealand). to me it is do different to many names that need to be spelt out unless ur name is Lisa or Anne or something! Even my name'stacey gets misspelt and I have spent my life saying Stacey with an E!
I named my SON Kaia in 2013. We are from New Zealand and have found out since it means Maori warrior, or leader....so its not just a girls name :)

I thought it was a simple but beutiful and strong name, and it describes my daughter perfectly.
This is my 3 year old son's name. He was named after his Great Grandpa. We love it and it fits him perfectly!! Its meaning is "of the'sea" and he was born on an island. I love the meaning because we are water lovers.

My name is Kaia and the name is said to mean Earth Godess i read this in a baby book my mum told me the name means sonething to do with astrology so i am realy un-sure of what my name means but i love it because it is unusual
My name is Kaia. Here in Estonia it is pretty easy to pronounce it, but sometimes people mix it up with Kaija. It is actually a bit funny to hear how people, who's native language is English, pronounce it. In Estonia we pronounce it like this (I try to explain): 'k' is pronounced a bit like the 'k' in English [key], but if you say 'k', then don't pronounce [key] but just the [k] in the front. 'a' is pronounced similar to the English 'i' [ai], just don't spell it [ai], just [a]. 'i' is pronounced like the English 'e'. It'should be similar to the Japanese pronouncing. To one of the former posters: In the Greek mythology there is the Earth god Gaia. So it means 'earth'.
My name is Nancy Kaia. I was born in 1969 and was named after my grandmother who was from Norway. She was born in the late 1800's Her name, Kaia (my mother'said it could be spelled Kaja like fjord for fiord)was Anglicized to Cary. My mother'said Kaia was a Norwegian form for Karen or Katherine. I have always used my middle name and have loved its sound (rhymes with "Hi Ya") People spell it Kia and then pronounce it like the car. I smile and tell them I'm not a car. I named one of my daughters Kaia and my best friend from high school named her daughter after me as well. Its a lovely name. I once met a man on an airplane who had the'same name but spelled it differently. He was Turkish. And he was shocked to hear my husband call me by "his" name. My mother'said the Norwegian masculine form is Kai. Of course most people think it is Hawaiian. It means "grandmother" in the'suquamish Indian language. Bob Marley refers to Kaya as marijuana and I know of a couple who named their daughter that. Few people know that'song and don't make that connection. I think the Greek roots of the name for Earth is very apropos for me.
Kaia is my name too. Everyone when'they read It'says kai kia or something like that. Somtimes it can'take a year for someone to understand its kaia. My parents named me Kaia because they like the name maya but we knew a maya so it would be confusing so they thought of kaia.
my name is kaia.I like my name'so much,I like surfing, fishing and outdoor.
We named our daughter Kaia in 2015 after everyone we knew was naming their baby girls "Emma", even'though Emma was my grandmother's name. We;ve had no problem with people mispronouncing it (probably helps to live in Minnesota) and have had many people tell us how much they love the name. We've met a couple of teenage girls with the'same name who love it!
We are Jewish and I needed to name my son after my grandfather, Sam. My husband loved the name'shane but I thought It'sounded too Irish. We had problems conceiving and I naturally became pregnant. It was a true miracle. When I read that the Hebrew meaning of the name'shane is "a gift from god" that was enough to convince me. Our little Shane just turned 8 on 8/16.
This is our first choice for when we have a girl. I think It'sounds very strong and I love the fact that it has nicknames.

I love the name, as I just gave the name Kaia to my newborn daughter. The doctor's have already mispronounced it ( kae-ya ) should be ( k-eye-a like sky-a). It's Cindy Crawford's daughter's name - that's where I saw it first in a magazine. Anyway- beautiful name.

Hi all! We named our puppy Kaia (we pronounce it Kai-uh) Jane. She was born on 11-10-09. We were looking for names and fell in love with this one as an alternate for the earth goddess Gaia. Little did we know it was a popular name for human children! The more we learn about her name, the more we love It'so thank you for the'stories and origins! The name is just perfect for our smart and pretty angel!
Kaia is a symbolic and exotic name defined by the inception of the 21st century. It's a wonderful name to have.
In the late 1800's my great aunt from Norway was named Kaia (pronounced with a long I as KI'-ah). I was named after her almost 60 years ago. I knew one other person in Minnesota with the'same name who was born in the early 1900's. She was also Scandinavian. It is often pronounced wrong, usually as the name of the car Kia, but that has never bothered me. I often am asked if it is Hawaiian or Japanese. The name was also Willow's wife's name in the movie "Willow".
I don't know of anyone with this name, yet. But I have loved it forever and my husband and I are trying to get pregnant and if It's a girl, she will be named Kaia (pronounced KI-YA). I can't wait!
I was born in 1988, and my name is Kaia Maeve - It's a great name to live in, but much more common among the younger'set these days.
We named our daughter Kaia. Love the name and all its beautiful meanings. I heard the name only weeks after I had my son and knew if I ever had a daughter that would be her name!
My name is Kaia Elizabeth I always tell people It's pronounced Kie like sky and yuh like duh. And I have to explain it a lot. My parents wanted to give me an uncommon name'since my brother has one of the most common names in the world (or at least America). When I was little, I hated my name. I wanted to be something normal, like a Morgan or a Samantha. It wasn't until I was about 14 that I really started appreciated my name. Honestly I don't get a lot of nicknames out of it, and quite frankly I'm alright with it. i've never been one for sports, but I'm madly in love with music and nature. I'm told It's because my name means Echo in Estonian and Earth in Greek and Ocean in Hawaiian. I guess it fits because i've always been able to learn music fast. To any parents reading this and looking to give their kid this name, I wish your Kaia the very best. :)
Our daughters name is Kaija pronounced with a soft J as in Dijon. So it would sound like KI-JAH. I actually thought I'made it up and many people say KAY-JA. I took letters out of family members names and came up with the name and pronunciation...or so I thought! A nurse at the hospital Kaija was born at told me there was a nurse there with the'same spelling but pronounced it KI-YA and that originally it is a finish name. I like it anyways and know of nobody else with It'so it is completely original! I get many compliments and people ask the meaning I tell them "LIFE BEAUTY" because that is exactly what she is to me! Only once has a Canadian Native woman told me that it is similar to a coast salish name'she knew of but she didn't mention what it was or the meaning.
