My mom and dad named me Lanny after my grandfather and as a child I hated the name but I grew up to love it because of its uniqueness and the closest name'someone has had that I have met is a women with the name lannie and I was also born in 2012
This is the only one of my childrens name that I would go back and change. In 2005 I had no idea how popular this name was! I also didn't know that everyone was naming their daughters Taylor. He hates his name and says that it is a he'she name.
My mother liked music and I was born in 1943 when Lanny Ross was popular. An Aunt even called me Lanny ross. Lanny is a nickname from my middle name that I got from my maternal grandfather. I'meet other Lannys only occasionally, thought i've come across that name twice in the last few days.
My mom loved the name Lanny. She knew it because of the'singer Lanny Ross. I was born in 1947. Lanny is my full name, not a nick-name. I was the only Lanny I knew until I dated a girl named Lannie (her real name as well). Typically people ask me what my name is "short for". I didn't like my name as a kid but I definitely grew into it and grew to like it quite a bit. I haven't met other Lannys in my adult life and that's fine by me.
