I was born in Iowa in the late 50's and there were a lot of male "Lynn's" (classmates, counsins, etc). But outside of that area I found out it was less common. I have met other Lynn's but also could count on 1-2 hands. I wouldn't trade for any other name though. Much better than Dave or Mike or Steve or...

My middle name is Lynn and people always assume It's a girls name. i've always argued that It's more common for guys (I know more guys with the middle name Lynn than girls), but from this website I see that's not the case. I'm 30 and named after my granddad named Deward Lynn. I like Lynn as a middle name'since It's unique, not sure I would like it as a first name...

I was named after two men named Lynn, though most of my life I ran into women with the name using varied spellings. I was often ridiculed for having a "girls" name, and no one could ever'spell it, or even pronounce it. I got Glen, Lenn, Lane. Spellings vary, mostly Lyn, Lynne, Linn, but rarely Lynn. I pronounce it Linn. I wouldn't recommend this name for another male. Nicknames are Lynda, Lynnie, Lynnardo, Lynnford, Lynnie the Pooh.

Lynn has English origins meaning "lake." I was born in Minnesota of Scandinavian and English ancestors at a time when Lynn was supposedly more common as a boy's name according to research I found. If a man has a problem with that name he would have problems with any another name and countless other aspects in adjusting to life. I like it and can provide no sympathy for othe's who are ashamed of their name. This is an elementary school problem and anyone can legally change their name or use a nickname. I cannot recall a single instance of anyone making fun of my name at any stage of my life.

My first name is Lynn and had I been given a choice I would have picked a different name. Actually, I would compare my circumstances to the old Johnny Cash song "A boy named Sue". I'm short, quick and somewhat muscular and have been in many a confrontation over'someone making fun of it, call me insecure if you will, but I guess it did kinda toughen me up a bit. Also, I still to this day get mail addressed to Ms. Lynn and boy you should see the look on the female doctors face when'they first meet me, expecting a female instead of a male. LOL

I am a man 60ish and my middle name is Lynn. That is what my parents called me. It has been a pain my entire life. I would have done anything to have started life with a normal name.

Its been hard dealing with this as my middle name. At least in Texas, it is considered feminine and was a source of "character-building" (read as "ridicule") while growing up in a small town. After years of using "L." as my middle name, most of my legal documentation and diplomas of devoid of my middle name....thankfully.

I am 75 and my name is Lynn. I was named after my great-grandfather who was actually named ❤️Lindon ❤️ but he was always called ❤️Lin❤️. My mom said she almost named me ❤️Lindon❤️ but liked Lynn and the'spelling so she went with it. I used to ask her when I was in the early Elementary grades why she gave me a girl❤️s name. She'said ❤️honey, I had never heard Lynn as a girl❤️s name❤️. To her credit, I have yet to meet a woman named Lynn older than I. It gets worse. Fast forward to 2009 when I'meet this woman from Texas named❤️.you guessed it❤️Lynn. It was her middle name but always used. Well, we got married, anyway, and I got sick of people saying how ❤️cute❤️ it was, not to mention when we would have phone mixups. At any rate, she decided to go by her first name after that. Much to her family❤️s chagrin. In retrospect, I should have let her keep it and changed to Bubba or something. Ha! And, yes, I grew up tough and now enjoy the looks in a medical office when my name is called. I do my best John Wayne walk and DARE them to say something. Lol.

Myy middle name is Lynn and my first name is Jamie. Yep, I'm the girl my mother never had. Jamie Lynn Isn't quite as bad as a boy named Sue but I can'tell you it is close. Especially in grade school where several teache's insisted on always calling me by both names. I can't say that I even considered giving my sons that either name but all in all, it hasn't been'that bad. Being big and strong helped!

I am a male named Lynn. I was born in the 1972's. The majority of the girls had the first or middle name of Lynn during school in the 1982's. I was teased a lot for the name. My mother'said she picked the name from a Doctor Lynn on the'soap oper's. My siblings have normal names for girls and boys. Yes, I still get mail with Ms. Lynn..... I do write Mr. Lynn ..., so hopefully they get it. I started using my first and middle initial during my military service days. I still us my initials to this day. The majority of my adult friends and associates do not know my real first name. My family still calls me Lynn. I have a male cousin named Kim, so he had it bad growing up also. The good part is that we had other men (some famous) named Lynn, when I was growing up. Parents should think twice, when naming their children.
