I am an American male. I was named after my father who was also American. I love my name because of its uniqueness. Everyone mispronounces it. Throughout school I had the unfortunate experience of people reading my name and thinking it was a female name. I didn't know its meaning until a relative from Ghana came to the United States and told me about the river in Africa that is the'source for the name. I am an elder now and am proud to say that my son and grandson are also named Offie.
