Tavian meaning

My boyfriend told me he liked the name before we knew we were having a girl. At first I didn't like it but it growing on me and now I can't wait to have a boy. But I also like Dante, Josiah, and Ethan too. I guess I will need a house full of kids to get all the names I want! I would love to go historical but no one wants to use those names. My son was born in 2015 and is named Tavian Alexander. We also call him Tavey for short. I see many variations of the name like Tavin, Montavious, Quintavious, and even'tavia for a girl, but have yet to see "Tavian." The only down side is people tend to hear it wrong and think his name is Damian at first. We almost always have to repeat his name more than once. He is 6 now and likes his name a lot because no one else has his name at school.

My son, Tavian Jordan(middle name) was born Oct 2008. His dad and I had been searching for months for a T boy's name. We started sounding different names out. I'made up Tavier and he'said what about Tavian. 13 1/2 yrs later, our Tavian loves his name as much as his dad and I do. We've never met anyone else with the name. i've been googling It'since I had him and only saw the one football player with the name. Now I see it has caught on. It is pronounced as it is spelled Ta-vi-an. In our experience, we've gotten a number of people mistaking it for David. i've found they will also pronounce it with an o, as in Tavion, which neither of us like. He has since learned to say It'slowly and clearly when introducing himself.

My son was born in 2011. I was watching a football game during delivery and there was a gentleman by the name of "Tabian." I liked it and thought it would be easier to pronounce if I changed it to "Tavian." It's pronounced Tay-vi-en. When I put him into daycare all the Moms kept complimenting me on the uniqueness of his name. 2 years later there were 3 newborns that were named Tavian in that'school. I took that as a flattering compliment. =) Tavian ROCKS!
