like many othe's, I didn't like my name when I was a child because no one heard of it, and everyone mispronounced or misspelled it. When I was a teenager, I remember a boy saying, "You'really got stuck, kid". But now that I am an adult, more people have heard of my name, and some compliment me because of it. Also, i've met a few othe's with my name. But they are from Germany where the name is better known.

My name is Ursula. I am not even, not ugly. Yes, sometimes I regret my name, but it is a strong, ancient name and I am proud of it. Say you are an Ursula, and people look at you. Yes it is old and odd, and yes, an evil character was named it, but never insult it. It is my name, and I am proud of it.

My name is Ursela, and I'must say growing up it was difficult to deal with having a different name that many of the other children could not pronounce correctly. But, as an adult I love my name!! I am the only Ursela (spelled with an "E") that I know and I thoroughly enjoy being able to say that my name is one of the most unique names around. It totally fits my personality!!

My daughter's name is Ursula. She is beautiful and strong and unique...just like her name. When she was little she did come to me once and say, "The'sea witch is also called Ursula." I said, yes, Disney chose that name because it is so strong, but it is also the name of a saint who saved women, a beautiful actress and a wonderful author. But most importantly, it is your name that Daddy and I chose for you because we love you so much and wanted you to have a lovely and unique name that would mean whatever you chose to make it. She has always loved the name.

I'm also from Austria. Ursula is a very common name there (if a little old-fashioned) and It's pronounced 'oor-su-lah'. Girls there with that name are usually called Uschi (pronounced 'oo-she') or Ursel ('oor-sle'). The name means 'female bear' and is derived from the latin 'ursus'.

It is a beautiful name despite Disney ruining it for some people. Come on! Ursula Andress was beautiful, Ursula Le Guin is a great author and as someone mentioned it, Ursula Iguaran (100 Years of Solitude) is a great character. So many great role models, and you take a cartoon character (that has no name and a not evil in the original "Little Mermaid") to base your opinion! What a restricted brain!

My name is Ursula. People say my name wrong all the time and I cringe whenever'someone addresses me as "Urshala" which is a lot. My parents were going to name me Shannon (ick!) but because they worked for social services they found they removed a lot of Shannons from broken homes. In the end they decided to name me something unusual that wouldn't be associated with their work. They also wanted something that would look good in a published article and could be "taken seriously" (their words, not mine.) At school I got teased for my name. People would start to deliberately pronounce it wrong and call me Ershie instead of Ursie (my nickname.) That'said I like how witchy and mysterious this name is. Some people don't like that, but I do. It's like being called Hermione, Morgana or Elphaba. I think that if my name were Kate or Georgia I would still have been'teased because I was different. I like my name. I like how unusual it is. It's like being the main character in a movie. And I always thought it was weird that people disliked the name because of The Little Mermaid. I hated the main character's name because it reminded me of a TV aerial. (Loved the movie though.)

I'm 6 months pregnant with a girl, and my husband and I love the name Ursula. My family absolutely hate it because they think It's old-fashioned, but some of the most popular trendy names today aren't that new: Emily, Sarah, Abigail. Not to mention the other unique names that are out there: McKenzie, Brianna, Kaylee, Jada. So, Ursula shouldn't be made fun of in today's world. It's ADORABLE and our daughter will be unique. We're calling her Ula for a nickname.

I love my name Ursula. As a child during the 70's the worst part was no one could spell or pronounce it correctly. Though I know Disney used it in 2001, they also used it in the first Parent Trap movie. It was one of the twins' friends at camp. Also George of the Jungle's beautiful girlfriend was Ursula, but no one remembers those characters. I embrace the'sea witch and have a coffee mug and other figures. Afterall, it was only a cartoon. Nothing to ruin a name or my life over.

My name is Ursula. I'm 43 years old and have never hated my name or ever wanted to change it. My dad who I am a daddy's girl named me after the actress Ursula Andress. He loved her and her name'so much that he and my mom agreed to name me after her. Years later I saw The Little Mermaid and was actually thrilled my name was in it. It was so uncommon that you never heard of it in the United States. I even bought a coffee mug of Ursula the'sea witch on it with my name on it. And the movie didn't bother my daughter when she out my name with the'sea witch's name. I also have two friends named Ursula. So anyone with this name I think is blessed to have it.
