Elliot is the first name version of an English surname which itself comes from a masculine French name. All these different versions themselves go back to being a version of the Hebrew name "Elijah". Elijah comes from the Bible. Elijah was a very important prophet for the Israelites. His calling was to invite the Israelites to go back to worshiping Yahweh and stop worshiping the pagan gods. The name itself is very fittingly connected to this calling because Elijah in Hebrew means "Yahweh is God". Elijah has a prominent place in the Jewish religion because he reminded people that we only have one true god. The Bible says that Elijah went to the skies by a chariot made of fire and it was the last time that he was seen. Jewish people believe that he is still in the skies and will appear once again to announce the arrival of Messiah.

Our son is Elliot. We went with one t, because two t's, when written in cursive, looks like a capital H and that was annoying to us. We sometimes call him Eli (E-lie). As a teacher, it waimportant for me to find a name that wasn't super popular with the young kids in my district and that wasn't already associated with a kid I'd taught.
Honestly why would anyone use a beautiful mans name on a girl❤️ its disrespectful to the boys who have to put up with all the crud that they will get from othe's about having a (girls name) when originally it had nothing to do with girls! thats like naming a girl willI'm or a boy susan!
This is one of my favorite names. I loved It'spelled this way!!
I named my Daughter Elliot Rose, after hearing it on "Scrubs" We've always call her Ellie for short but now at three she introduces he'self as Elliot and when people ask why she 'has a boys name' she tells them 'cause its pretty'
My son is called Elliot and I love it. It'suits him so much. It is a really lovely name and people admire It'so much. It Isn't one of the traditional names which i like.
I named my son Elliot, I love that it is classic but not over'sed. I get tons of compliments on his name and don't feel that It's old fashioned at all. I admit It'seems very much a boys name to me and hope he doesn't end up with any girl Elliots in his class. It's just an all around good name!
The most common mistake is that people only think it is a boys name. Our daughter is named Kaiden and we are often'told that we spelled it wrong, thinking It'should be Caden. Also, people often refer to her as Kaitlyn.
My daughter's name is Elliot May and It'suits her perfectly! She was named after the'show "Scrubs". She does get called "him" in situations like over the phone or at a doctors apt. but in person people love it. We thought we would call her "Ellie" but it just seems weird not calling her Elliot.
I love the name Eliot, I think i prefer it with 2 t's though. it reminds me of the girl Eliot off "scrubs". I think its so cute for a girl.. Elli for short.

I love it for a girl and I think it would be cute to call her "Elli" for short. One of the female doctors in "Scrubs" is Elliot and I thought it was cute. As a boy It'seems a little old fashioned.
