Kaya Isn't slang for weed in the rastafarI'movement, but rather It'stands for enlightenment. My daughter is named Kaya and yes I love the'song and always thought it was about weed.

People sometimes pronounce my name Kia (like the car) or KAy-a, with a hard "a". For some reason lots of people read it and say Kayla too haha. The easiest way i've found is to say that It'sounds like Maya. That'seems to help. I really like my name because its not that common and because it has many meanings in different cultures

I absolutly LOVE the name Kaya! But reading these comments, I think i've been pronouncing it incorrectly. I pronounce it Kay-ah. And many people seem to be using it as Ki-ah. I personally prefer the way I spell it and shall hopefully be calling my first daughter Kaya Louise (After my sister Ellie Louise) Or Kaya Marie simply because I like the name!!!
