Though I haven't met many with this name, the two I have are awesome! It's really hard to mispronounce or incorrectly spell it.. It's a very cute name ^_^
I am a Lahoma. I have never used a nickname. People always think It's my last name. And YES it is mispronounced, misspelled, just missed. LOL Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Lahomapalooza in the beautiful city of Lahoma, Oklahoma. Prior to this, I had never, ever met a Lahoma in person. It was great. People always think it is a Hawaiian name, and are always surprised to find out it is a Native American name. I have been asked more than once that if I could change my name, what would it be❤️ And I always say Lahoma! I am and will always be a Lahoma and proud of it.
I am a Lahoma born in 1971. My mother had a very good friend named Lahoma Holdren. As a Canadian living in the US with no family she was very kind to my mother. I have always been'told the name is Polynesian and means little homemaker. I have met othe's with the name and they also say it means the'same. Not sure where the Indian translation came from!
My name is La Homa, yes, folks spell it wrong and folks have a hard time wrapping thier brains around it. I was born and raised in Boone, Iowa. Folks around here had a very hard time with my name especially since I'm caucasion. Then when I went into the Navy, the African American community had a hard time with it as well. I shouldn't have a name like that for a "white" girl..i heard that ALOT!! So, I don't "fit" in with the "white" community nor the african american community then I'met some native americans and asked about my name because i never knew what it meant. and they just looked at me like i was from a different planet...maybe i am. :) then i became friends with someone from hawaii and she doesn't think my name is from that part of the world either...so, i charge my own path, i stand up for what i beli've in and I'm a bit head strong. I'm different and i use to shy away from my name,,thats how come i go by my nickname Homie...that just causes more confusion..but oh well, a girls gotta live and have fun too, right❤️! Hope this helps. La Homa (Homie)
My name is Lahoma, my mom got my name off a soap opera she use to watch, Another World. I found out it was a indian name. I was told that a Indian princess had this name. It is always spelled wrong, pronounced wrong and I am always asked if that is my real name. I did not like my name growing up, I always thought my parents didn't like me. As an adult I love my name.
