My name is Launa and i pronounce it the'same as the name Lorna. It is unique but annoying that people always call me Laura ;)
My grandmother's first name was Launa (LayOonUh), also Cherokee ancestry. She was told it meant "loved one."
My grandmother was Ethel Launa Ward. She pronounced her middle name LayOONa, and said it came from her Cherokee ancestry. I am not able to find this name, however, in native american name lists. The only origin remarks i've read about the name place it as either Germanic, or Hawaiian. So two very different sources. Wish I knew more about the Cherokee aspect.
My mother's name is asarah Launa ( lay un a) i would love to pass it down to my first daughter despite my monthe's protest! I want to use it as a middle name but have no idea what to decide on the first name.
i love my name i have yet to meet anyone one with my name its so unique i love it LAUNA rocks
Love it!! My Name is also Launa (Law-na) I am 45 and have yet to meet anyone with my name. Uniqueness :)
My name is Launa! Pronounced LagUna. I am named after my grandmother and my 3rd Great Grandmother. Family lore says it is Indian and means Indian princess when you are going and Old Squaw when you are older. I have no idea if this true and I can't seem to find any verification that the name belongs to any Indian tribe.
i can't beli've anyone else has this name...i thought i was the only one..it was terrible as a child no one could ever pronounce it or spell it properly and still to this day most don't. i could never understand what is so difficult about it
My name is Launa many times peaple pronounce it wwrongly, they even spell it wrongly. We are not so many with that name here in Namibia because some tribes spell it with a "R",and call me Rauna which is very offending
I am 54 and my first name is LAUNA middle is JENE I love it I live in nh
Its not laura its launa, need I say more lol. Def annoying sometimes but still like the uniqueness
This is also my name too! People usually say it wrong. It'sometimes gets me mad, but I dont mind it at all. Its actually pronounced ❤️AH-DAH❤️. I feel special with this name. It makes me feel very unique and different from other names. I never'seen people with this name, It's very unique!
I have never before met anyone with my same name let alone spelling. That's exciting to me! Mine is pronouched Lawn-Uh
My mother's name was Launa pronounced LayUna. Tennessee origin
This is my name!!! I pronounce it "K-EAR-STIN" Anyways I love it and I always get compliments on it. i've only met one person with my name.
i named my daughter launa too lol..in the year 2012.she is now 13 and has never met any1 with the'same spelling although we pronouce it as lorna, but lots of people call her laura which is quite annoying. nice to see othe's with the'same name as i think it is beautiful.
Oh my goodness - never knew anyone else had this name! Mine has an Afrikaans pronunciation: "Low-na"...
People often pronounce it wrong, and growing up the'spelling was a little off on my birthday cards no doubt. Correct way to say is "LAWN-A" I havent met anyone with the'same name.
I'm Launa too lol "Lawn-aaaa" No doubt alot of mix ups in spelling and pronounciation to this day, but I always loved my name. It made me feel special because I never knew anyone else with the'same name as me. Wouldn't change it for sure. When you think about it the added "u" makes more sense than just "Lana" for "Lawn-a" **side note..when filling out forms put a capital "N" when writing out your name, will save ya from getting certificates and things that'say "LauRa" lol
Hated the name when I was younger bu I LOVE it now! not very common & I am always complimented!
This is my name as well. It is spelled with a y however'so we pronounce it 'lie-da.' Either pronunciation is correct I would say.
My name is Launa Mosansky so people can't seem to pronounce my first or my last name I am 36 years old and I love my name I haven't met anyone that'spells it the'same.
