I go by Les or Lester. I went by Les through college but now either. Named from my grandfather's middle names, Lester and Ray. My wife and I were out eating recently when I heard a couple introduce their 5 year old boy to someone. I told the boy my name was Lester and he'said My name IS LESTER" and I said, yeah, there wont know be too many.

Is unfortunately part of that infamous Wilbur, Elmer, Mortimer, Mervyn, Adolph, Wilfred, and Hyman group of names which, along with their female equivalents Ethel, Eunice, I'ma, Beulah, Hortense, Verda, and Velma, were all popular names a century ago but mostly conjure up old people nowadays. Plus, Lester Isn't a particularly masculine-looking name when one looks at it - I think It'sounds somewhat effeminate and a bit like a homosexual. No offense, however, to the two heter'sexual men of their day with this name who were American jazz singer Lester Cole and Canadian prime minister of the 1972s Lester B. Pearson.
