I have always loved my name. Ever'since I was four or five years old, I refused to let people call me "Maggie," or any abbreviated version of my name, although I couldn't spell it until I was twelve. I have always been, and will always be Magdalene, pronounced MAG-DUH-LEEN. People ask me about my heritage and religion a lot, but I don't mind. Several of my ancestors on my mother's side were Magdalenes, I beli've they were of German origin. It's a little annoying when people bring up the prostitute thing, but I just remind them that there are many different sides to the Biblical story of Mary Magdalene as well.
I am planning to name my daughter this and I am so happy to see I am not the only one who shares the admiration for it. Such a beautiful and unique name.I love it!
