Magdalena is my middle name and I love it, It's unique and has a nice ring to it. The only issue with it is that'some people make the "e" a long e (ex: Magdaleena) which i don't think sounds as nice as with a short e.

I don't like any short forms of the name Magdalena, I like the name as it is. I know that when saying this name, there is an accent on the e. This is one of my favorite, unique Spanish female names. I like unique names like Candela, Lucera, Macrina, Maralina, etc. Magdalena is my very favorite.

My grandson lives in Poland with his wife and their child. This little girl is called Magdalena. She is really sweet, I saw her only twice, but I can say it. But I find her name awful. I just don't like it, but it also bothe's me, when'they call her Magda. BRRRR! Awful! I know that it is a Polish diminutive, but I just hate it and think it really doesn't fit my grandgranddaughter. Magdalena Isn't as bad as Magda, but also don't fit her. It too long name for little, short and thin girl.
I have lots of friends from Romania, Poland, and Italy with this name. It's a classic. What's there to dislike about it - It's pretty and not over'sed which gives it an exotic edge.
