My name is mina, short for wilhelmina, and every new person I'meet has told me i have a very pretty and unique name. It'sounds like a sweet yet edgy name and they always ask the origin of it. I did not like my name for a while but now i love it and im deffinately known because of it.
Even with 'Ugly Betty' now popular on both sides of the Atlantic, I don't think a name like Wilhelmina is likely to shoot up the U.S. charts anytime soon, partly because the character Wilhelmina is one of the evil characters in the'show, a right nasty piece of work (although on a positive note the actress playing her, Vanessa WillI'ms, crowned the first Miss Black America in 1994, is also a talented singer - remember when in 2004 she'sang 'Save The Best For Last' and that was a WONDERFUL song). I don't think It's right, though, a poor child being named after ANY villain or villainess whether he or she is a murderer or murder'ss, tempter or temptress, conman or conwoman, or whatever, and whether he or she is real or fictional and also what era that person happens to be from.
Anyone called Wilhelmina❤️ get your name changed! if it were me i would insist that the nurse who wrote it one my birth certificate was blind!
The name itself is actually pretty good. Where I take issue with this name is that it can put your child in danger. I have a friend who is racist again't Swedish people and just gets so angry whenever he hears a Swedish name. Don't even ask me to explain what happens when meatballs are served as appetizers on'toothpicks.
My moms middle is Wilhelmina. A while ago she hated the guts out of it. at a specific time when a teacher asked her what the W stood for, she replied "wI'ma'. It is still on a report. But now ahe grew older and she makes jokes about it. But no advise to anyone to name her child 'Wilhelmina'.
i've always wanted to be named Wilhelmina! My name is so common and boring. I beli've that this is one of the most beautiful names you can give a girl. At least it is better to name her this than Tailyr or Emmylee!
I think the'sound of the name is very pretty, but the'spelling of it makes it look uglier than it is, plus It's quite a lot for a young girl to learn how to spell! I think if it were spelled "Willamina," it would look nicer, but I hate untraditional spellings of names. There are a few nice nicknames, though, like Willa and Mina.
