They often misspell this name. The meaning comes from Welsh heritage and translates to "by the'sea"

My son called Bret, but unfortun'tely I shall n't know the name meanings Can you help a little
My name is Brett and I am also a girl like a recent poster! Whenever I introduce myself while I'm out, I often have to repeat my name multiple times because people just can't seem to beli've their ears and they always ask if that is really my name (umm why would i lie❤️) and if it is short for an'thing. I also tend to get stuff addressed to me as "Mr." Brett. It's weird, I actually like my name but I absolutely hate the unoriginal comments, which go along with having the name Brett, that I receive from people when meeting them for the first time!
This is Lisha Maharajh from Trinidad . I left a comment on the 22th Jan. 2019. I also know of there are two other Lishas' in the country.
My name is Brett--and I'm a girl--no one ever beli'ves what they are hearing and usually call me Brit.
Everybody thinks there should be an extra 'T'. n't sure why. i've also had a hard time explaining it to people who's first language is n't English. They think It's Brad, Bread, Brit, Fred... an'thing but Bret. I never thought it was too difficult, a four letter name with 1 verb and no silent letters or special 'rules'.
I know someone called bret and its a boy and he is well cute.
