Meaning Bold and Faithful Was bibically the first to step foot into the promised land, was a son of Moses
Many name books / websIt's incorrectly list the meaning of CALEB as "Dog". However, a simple look in a Hebrew / English dctionary one will see that "dog" in Hebrew is CELEB, n't CALEB. **n'te** the first vowel is different. CALEB is actually a compound word in Hebrew - something that is quite common in ancient Hebrew. Col (Cuf + Lamed) = all or whole. Lev (Lamed + Vet) = heart. Therefore, CALEB (or COLEV as pronounced in Hebrew) actually means "whole hearted".

Top contender for when we have a little girl. I love Macie
Let me first preface this with: I am n't an overly religious person, or even a religious person, for that matter. I have my beliefs, but...I don't think many would beli've it if I went ahead and shared my experience, but I'm here so I'll give it a try. Last night about 10:30pm the phone rang unexpectedly, I picked it up. It was someone calling on a wrong number. For whatever reason we got to talking and his name is Caleb. I have never'spent so much time talking to someone I didn't know and finding out I had so much in common with. The past two months have been literal hell to put it lightly, but I'm holding true to the fact that "everything happens for a reason". Something kept telling me that I needed to look up the meaning of his name to fully understand (which I have never done before). Needless to say I looked it up and something "clicked". Weird coincidence or something more❤️❤️❤️ I don't know, all I know is his name could have been a trillion different names with a trillion different meanings, but it wasn't. Whatever the case, honestly I think the name Caleb is awesome -- which is actually how our conversation started...Good luck to all the Caleb out there...

My son is Caleb and he will be five soon. We had other boy names suggested but with a last name of Smith or Jones, you need to come up with something a little off the beaten path. And frankly he looked like a Caleb. People assume It's spelled KALOB though and pronounce it that way. Our boy is devoted to God and quite precious. Hopefully he'll be strong and virtuous like the Caleb in'the'scriptures too.
It's a beautiful thing in life that there are so many, many names to chose from to give our sons (and daughters). Don't like Caleb❤️ Fine, go name your child something else! No need to dis on anyone else's choice. Chances are there are people who are biting their tongues about your own given name. I should know, I don't care one bit for my own given name.. it evokes images of a little girl on a Swiss Mountain'top, yodeling. I would never dis an'ther person's choice. I'may n't chose it for my own son, but hey, we can't all be called the'same thing!... I for one, did chose to name my son Caleb and, well, obviously, I love the name.
I dont mind the name, It's pretty fun...i've never had anyone pronounce it wrong. Plus I wanna name my child Caleb Jr. or Caleb II....keep the name going.
i wanted a name that no one else i knew had for my baby but cudnt settle on anythin then one night while watchin desperate housewives the guy that was locked in the house was called caleb so i looked up da meaning and it was from the bible and said that joshua was one of the disiples too so it stuck cus my wee bro is called joshua. i had da name kyla picked for a wee girl. so christmas eve i had my wee boy and named him kaleb. xx

I am expecting hopfuly my baby will be a boy i will give him caleb.I love the name.
I have a son name Caleb Tyrell. He is autistic. I have had a very hard time getting him in school. The'school board in my county suggested that he could n't do the work and that a school for autI'm would better'serve him. My son just turned 7 and is a straight "A" student. What you name a child does greatly decide who and what they will be. They become what you call them. He is BRAVE, BOLD, and LOYAL. Everyday is a challenge for him but he faces it with a smile and always comes out a WINNER!
My name is Caleb and I got my name from the'story in'the Bible. My brother is Josh to go with the'story.
I am expecting mz first child, whom we will name Caleb n'thaniel. We are trying to decide whether to spell it with a C or a K.
our son is caleb - we're not religious, just love the name. great for a baby, great for a little boy and great for a man. very strong and masculine - love it!
I named my 2nd son Caleb and my first is Joshua for a specific reason. I am a religious person. Joshua and Caleb were the only ones of that generation'to be let into the promised land because they were the only ones who brought back good news to Moses. I love the name both because of the connection and also because it is different.
Everyone read this please Many name books / websIt's list the meaning of CALEB as "Dog". Faithful could be an'ther translation. However, if You'read in'the Hebrew Bible the exploits of CALEB (as in one of the twelve spies who went into Caanan Numbers 13:6 & 13:30), one will see that he wasn't simply faithful, but that he'served the God of ISRAEL with his whole heart. IE: He was the first to speak up and say, "let's go and conquer this land," (paraphrased). It wasn't JOSHUA (the leader of the 12 spies), but CALEB who was encouraging Israel to follow God inspite of the opposition from the other 10 spies. Therefore, the ancient meaning of CALEB is: "whole h

My son's name is Caleb jack, he's 11 yrs old, I still love this name and really happy I chose it, a lot off people get his name wrong and call him many things which really frustrated me, strong, bold and really clever little chap. We're from England. X

My first born is named Caleb and I love it. I had no idea it was in'the bible until I told the delivery nurse his name and she'said "of from the bible, the guy with Joshua" Sure I said, I looked into after that'so I knew the'story. I am offended by the guy that called it the worst name ever, that's kind of harsh.
My 11 year old son's name is Caleb and he is the one child I never worry about. He is is truly faithful to all he cares about and he fights for what he thinks is right, no matter what the outcome, he never gives up or gives in'to defeat. Some say Caleb means dog, but I say it means soldier.
My little angel is named Caleb, I fell in love with the name the first time I heard it and I knew this would be the name of my son. I love it because It's so beautiful and special and I do find that a lot of people say's it wrong too, they always want to say cay-lub, but like I tell them It'sounds just like It's spell Cay-leb and no n't Cable. (i've had a few dumb people call my child that)
My youngest son is Caleb Andrew and he's now 14. His brothers are Joshua Alexander and Nathan Charles. I worked hard on their names and the meanings to fit the type of men they would become. Middle names are family names. My older two boys are fathers no and my grandchildren are Ezra, Lily and Max...I love those names! Max isn't even born yet, but any day now I'll get to meet him.
People who comment on'the name, Caleb, are idiots. Sincerely, Caleb
We named our son Callen. We have had people pronounce it Kellen, Cullen (as in'the'sparkly vampires) and Kaylin (Really❤️❤️ He has a penis!). As for pronunciation, it is Allen with a C at the beginning. Cal (like Cal Ripkin,Jr) plus Len (like Len Goodman). Or to make is really easy, Chris O'Donnell's character on NCIS: Los Angeles is Agen G. Callen. Simple enough. :)
My oldest son is named Caleb Scott. I have loved that name ever'since reading the book "Sarah Plain and Tall" I always knew that I would have a Caleb. It is the best name ever!!!
I was born in 2005 and was named Kaleb.. it means "whole hearted" or "faithful" which i think fits me.
our son Caleb was born sept 21st and we have had many people tell us that they love the name and that they haven't heard it alot. We love it and hope it will stay a rare name.
At first, I was n't sure what name I was to name my baby boy. There were a lot of suggestions that came from my friends and my family, however, at last, I'made sure that my choice and my wife's would be the best pick. I have been very sure that that would a very best name combin'tion - Joshua and Caleb- I could give my son. They were the firsts and the chosen ones to get into the promised land.
I am pregnant and due in early July. My hubby and I have a 6year old son named Gabriel Hunter. We are having an'ther boy and we are going to name him Caleb Anthony. I think It's a nice strong name.
My son was born on 10-20-09 and we named him Kaleb Nicolas, and I love it, but I always have to repeat it when I tell someone his name, for our second were going with Kaden n't sure of the middle name but were into the K's,lol
I am due to be enduced tomorrow (29/5/07), guaranteed that if I have a boy he will be called Caleb - I found the name in a book called "21st Century Baby Names" where they have the meaning as "bold", I know some sIt's say it means "dog" but there are also many that'say "dogged and determined". If you look hard enough you can find good, bad and indifferent meanings for all names, all I know is that I think its a lovely name and if I do have a boy to call Caleb that they will be able to create their own meaning of the name.
Exellent name, It's old fashioned and n't common (where I live anyway). It's my #1 choice if I have a son.
why would somebody name their child haylee, its like a death sentence, its like their trying to kill their child its so ugly i want to puke
My name is Caleb and I have never really cared for the name. i've always wished that I had gone by my middle name in'tead. Most people don't even recognize the name and literally 99% of the time I say : "Hi, I'm Caleb", the person responds: "What was that❤️" or "Pardon me❤️". People also misspell and mispronounce it more often'than n't. I think it is just an awkward name. I have heard and read a lot of people say that they think it is because of the "b" on'the end.
My sons name is Caleb Anthony, i picked it because It'seemed like unique name. It fits his personality perfectly, he is bold and handsome!!
I have twins named Caleb and Noah. I picked these out because of the temperments they had in the womb. Caleb means bold, and man, would he kick. Noah means rest, and he would just kind of roll around. It's just funny, so I thought I would post the story.
My 4 month old son's name is Caleb. I love the name but the meaning is a little worrisome. I just hope he doesnt become too big for his britches.
i named my son kaleb david. he was born 12/11/07.. i too hope It'stays a rare name
