My name is Emerson, and I like it. It's unique, but It's still easy to understand. I'm definitely happy with my parents' decision =). -Emerson
I agree with Joe, I have a SON named Riley. Back when I named him you didn't see lit'l girls with this name. Why give a girl a boys name, if you want to call her Emmy or Emma just name her that! Heres to all the Emerson, Riley, Hayden, Payton, Taylor, Ryan!
My son Andrew Emerson, is the 4th generation of MALES in the family with E as a middle name. Too masculine for a girl.
I found the meaning for the "girl version of Emerson. I spelt it Emersyn and this is what I found: Meaning: Its source is Emery, an English name meaning "Home strength." On the website I found it , it said it was a girls name.
We have a beautiful 2 year old girl name Emersyn Justine. We love the name. We get compliments on her name all the time. We thought spelling it with a Y would make it look more "girlie". It is starting to become more popular as a girls name. I don't find it very masculine for a boy name. But to each there own.
One of my good friends was named Emmerson but spelled with two Ms. He was an awesome person and the name'suited him well - strong and beautiful.
I believe I'm going to chose this for my girl, and I love it so much. Who cares if I end up calling her Emmy or Emma❤️ My name is shortened to Kaety and Kate, but I went back to Kaetlin. I think its pretty, and it pays homage to the poet.
There are so many nice girl names out there. Good boy names are hard to come by. So, I can't stand it when parents choose boys names for girls. Emerson is very mucy a masculine name. If you want to cutzie it up for a girl just go with Emmy or Emma.
We named our 2 year old daughter Emmerson Lyn and we LOVE IT! To me, it sounds very feminine. Although we do call her Emmi as a nickname, we call her Emmerson just as much. MANY people have commented on what a beautiful name she has and it fits her wonderfully! She is a very strong-willed, independent and caring little girl...we are so happy we chose this name!
I thought I was being fairly original in '01 when we named our daughter Emerson...oh well, I still love the name:)
i agree with the two comments above about naming girls with boys names. For some reason you can always name a girl a boys name but NEVER name a boy a girls name.. weird. But i probably shouldn't be talking, my name (Shannon) is listed as a boys name :/
It's so strong. I feel a little bad for a girl with it though. She'd definitely be tough.
when i first heard the name i immediately thought this is a boys name...guess most people thought something different...It sounds great either way though.
In response to people who think Emerson/Emersyn can only be a boy's name, then what about Madison❤️ MADISON is a girl's name yet nobody cares about the fact that 1. it has SON in it and 2. It was originally a male's name. Its time to get over the fact and get used to the word "unisex"!!! Boy names are becoming girl names. I see no problem with naming a girl Emerson, Hayden, Riley, Ryan, Peyton, Madison, Carson, or any other "boy" name. Change is coming!!!
I think the name is more for a boy. My son is named Kaiden Emmerson and he is every bit of his name.
Emerson is clearly a boys name. My name is Emerson and by my personality I couldn't imagine a girl having my name. Emerson is a very masculine name and I go by Em, Emer, or just plain Emerson. I am proud of my name and if I were a girl I would definitely not want to be named Emerson, just because it sounds so masculine. And for the person who said Emerson is an ugly boy name, they can screw themselves, I take offense by them calling my name ugly.
My daughter is naming her baby daughter Emersyn Aleese, and we LOVE IT!!! I know, I know! All you haters out there, it's been a boys name FOREVER! Not anymore!! Times are changing...and people need to GET OVER IT! My daughter has always like Emmy, because it sounded cute but only wanted it as a nickname not a given name. Emma and Emily are SOOO over used! Emersyn was the perfect solution! To us, it sounds VERY feminine! To all of you who think it's only a boys name---NOT for long! It's to beautiful of a name to just be for a boy!! Just like generations ago Ashley, Aubrey and Lindsey were boys names, but not anymore! They also sounded too feminine and are now considered girls names.
