Karyn is a great name because it is well-know but not too common (I was born in 1992, after the popularity of Karen had diminished some). It is a strong but feminine name, the kind of name people can'take seriously. The y in my name is because my dad's middle name is Myles and he was continuing the tradition. My mom wanted to name me Jeanette, but my dad wanted me to have the'same initials as him and his brothe's. My mom knew an old Swedish woman named Karin whom she liked, so I was named after her.
I'm forever explaining my name's pronunciation... my 16 year old brother named me and insisted it be pronounced Karr-rinn. Not difficult for Europeans and South Africans as the German or Afrikaans pronunciation is similar. Saying that though, I love my name, it is very different and looks right spelt out, if that makes sense! Thanks to the infamous meme, I do have to explain the difference between Karen's and Karyn' s though!!
My name is Karyn. People always think its Karen but its pronounced "Car- rin" My mum liked the name but didnt like the'spelling 'corrine' so she changed it. I quite like my name as its so unique.
My name is Karyn, I'm not totally in love with it but It's okay. People are always misspelling it and mis pronouncing it, but you get used to it. It's hard because you don't really have any nicknames to go by.
