My son will be 4 this year, and Lucian was the only name that his father and I could agree on. His nickname is Lucky - (It'stuck after he got run over by a truck last year, and came out of it with minor injuries.) Sometimes we refer to him as Lucifer - because he is a 3 year old, adventurous and unfearing little boy, but we beli've that we chose well. We have yet to meet another child with his name, although we have met a few adults that we're happy to see that the name was still "around".

My name is Lucian and the experience changes throughout life. When young it was bad, I got called "Lotion". However, now in the mature world of adult-hood people remember me because of my name. People do commonly mispronounce it by saying "Lucy-inn" but people usually say It's a quite masculine name. It's a great conversation piece when meeting new people (girls are particularly inter'sted in my name and its meaning/origins) so I'make sure I am well versed and knowledgeable in my name, noting any important/famous people. eg Did you know a person from St.Lucia is known as a "Lucian"❤️ It's a very colorful word with very rich history and I highly recommend for any parent that wants their children'to be successful and well remembered.
My husband and I named our son Lucian we think it is a very handsome name with old world class. We don't meet many people with the name however the ones we do meet usually have the alternate spelling of Lucien.
