I go to school, and sometimes there can be up to seven other Madison(s) in the'same class; the name is over'sed, in my opinion. i've tried to come up with clever nicknames that don't utilize any form of "Maddie" or "Madi", etc., but people tend to lean back towards common nicknames and such for its accessibility. Another problem with my name is that people can easily confuse me with another Madison if they don't know me personally. Sometimes I'll have random strangers walk up to me and say, "Hey, aren't you Madison ____," and I just tend to cringe. I know people who have named their daughters some VERY trendy and/or overplayed names: Ashley, Jennifer, Brittany or Britney, Amber, Michelle, Nicole, Taylor, Logan, Mackenzie, Caleigh, Meghan or Meagan, Che'sea, Jordan, Kelsey, Kelli, Chelleigh, Erin, Melissa, Amanda, Katie, Kristin, etc. Now classic names like Hannah & Grace are becoming "trendy"! Madison could be a unique name for a girl if it weren't so commonly used. Same with Taylor. i've seen different spellings of Madison too: Maddyson, Madyson, Madisyn, Maddicyn, Maddicynne. Silly. There are so many unique, feminine names out there...and if you have to give your daughter a trendy name, at least spell it in a way that can be understood! Besides, children will grow up and beli've it or not, they will be teased for having silly-trendy cutesy names. Mackenzie Phillips used to be a heroin addict but there's a crop of trendy moms naming their girls Mackenzie. Most trendy names sound overly played-out, silly, pretentious, masculine, or adult fI'my.
