We named our daughter "Hadlee Ashton". I wanted her to have a Sassy Southern Belle name. As well as a formal name for events. Hadlee fits her'so well. We LOVE it, and I get compliments all of the time about how unique her name is. I beli've it is the new "Emily", Or "Hayley"!!
Hi! My name is Shane and I'm a girl... When I try to check/search my name to the internet... they said that most of the people who use this name was a boy but I don't think so because here in my country (Philippines) Shane is a common name for a girl. I have a schoolmate too named Shane and a girl too, like me. Having this name make me feel unique. But sometimes people misspell my name like Shaine, Shayne and sometimes they call me Shan and its irritate me...
Beautiful name. ?? The guy I love is named Shane & if I ever have a son, I'll be naming him Shane for sure. ??
My son Shane was a miracle baby! Dr. said we'd NEVER have kids... three weeks later our Shane was conceived! "God is gracious?" You're not kidding!
My name is Shane. The older I get (43 now) the more I like it. I was named after the Alan Ladd movie. Used to really torque me growing up when people would say, "come back Shane, come back! Pa's got things for you to do!" Or they would call me Shane the Pain but the biggest gripe I have is that everyone, even people who've knon me (and my name) for years always call me Shawn. i've asked Shawns but It'seems they never get called Shane. I don't know why people are so dumb.
I think it is a an awesome name. I'm 30 now and am still happy with it. I like that it is not that common. I think It's a strong Irish name.
I have a friend named Shane and he is one of the funniest people I know. He also really looks out for people. Belive me if you meet a "Shane" He is more than likely to be really nice. (Not always though!)
My name is Shane. Dad liked the old Alan Ladd movie. Was embarrassing at times when I was in elementary school, and the P.E. Teacher would yell "Shane come back, Shane please come back." Most of the other kids didn't know what he was saying that for. As for being called Shawn, That happens, However I am quick to correct the person on how to say it and they usually appreciate it. I celebrate my "Name Day" as they do in Greece on March 1st! So if you ever felt left out that you didn't get a "Name Day" Those named Shane have their very own "Name Day" now every March 1st!
I am a 51 year old female named shane. Every one expects a fella when'they phone or meet me. That does not bother me but when'they call me sean my teeth grind
My father named me Shane when I was born in 1981. I didn't run into many other'shane's throughout my school years and still don't. I didn't appreciate It's uniqueness as a child but I do now. When my first daughter was born in 2009 I named her'shayne.
I'm a female Shane as well, born in Canada in1984 and named after'shane Gould, the 1984 Australian Olympic SwI'ming Champion. i love my name- It's strong. people tend to say they love the name'shane for a girl, though i have never met another woman with my name. there's a character in the movie "some kind of wonderful" called Shayne and also lorenzo lamas' daughter- but they both spell it with a "y". i like to say, 'no "y", just plain shane like the cowboy!'
I am also named Shane. My wife and I ended up naming our two sons Sean and Jonathan. Now if only I can find feminine variant (can't use Shawna - It's already taken)
I'm married to a Shane & I think It's a really sexy name! Uncommon but people still know how to spell it (unlike mine.)
i've always like me name "Shane". I was born at the height of It's popularity in 1984 after my Dad's favorite movie. It certainly holds up over bad 70's male names like Shannon (one of my friends). I got the usual childhood taunts as well "Shane, Come back Shane.", "Shane The Pain", "Shane The Brain" even "Shaney Wayney". i've been called Shawn so many times, i've got where I just ignore it. I still can't see how people can read it wrong, I'mean come on, S-H-A-N-E, It's so easy. i've met several other'shane's that are my age, but not many that are younger than me. I like the name'so much, I gave it as a middle name for my son.
I have been a Shane in the UK for over 28 years :) Apart from getting called "Shaun" alot by people whom seem to have a problem remembering your name (this happens alot - to a stage where i answer if someone calls me Shaun). Shane is a very unique name. Again apart from the childhood taunts of "Shane, Shane, dont leave me Shane"... As i was unfortunate to be born in the'seventies, Shane the western was very popular, however all the new Shanes who are born in the 80's, 90's & 00's no longer get this really tiring taunt. Hehe although there is still "Shane the pain, went to spain, in a super aero... plane".
I'm the only person named Shane that I see on a regular basis. I am often called Shawn instead of Shane (especially by senior citizens). It doesn't help that I have an uncle named Shawn!
I like my name, but I hate being called Sean/Shaun/Shawn, especially by people who have known me for my whole life. It happens.
I had an older'sister named Shane Marie. She lost her fight to cancer at the age of 17. In honor of her I named my second daughter'shane Elise. I think It's a very unique name for a girl.
when I'my baby girl(wenever that is) i am naming her mai, its so different but beautiful , alagant and stunning
My boyfriend is the first Shane i've ever met, and I instantly feel in love with him, and his name :)
My son was born on October 4,2020 and I wanted to give him something unique an identity that truely said individual. The name'shane seemed to fit the bill, and reading thru the blogs most said it was meant as "john" or "god is gracious" or "gift from god" I chose the name because I read that its meaning was "beloved" And like a few othe's he is my miracle child, so the name'suits him well. Definitely love his name for a boy :)
we are just about to have our little girl in two weeks and we picked the name calli a few months ago as its irish and our other two children have irish names DECLAN & Neve after their grandparents ilove the comments about the name lets hope It'stays unique
my name is shane and i think its a good name because its quite a rare name around my area so when someone says shane they pretty much know they talking about me
My name is Shane. I was born and raised in Texas. The name just fits me. Kind, unpredictable, ruthless determination, daring, solid, devout, forgiving. As we say here in Texas: a real square shooter. It's unique enough to haunt ex girlfriend's dreams, and cozy to my soulmate. "Come back, Shane" and he never looks back. That's Shane.
I think Shane is a beautiful boy's name that is not over'sed or trendy. It has a certain edge to it that makes it very classic. Masculine names are often one-syllabled, and this one is definitely very virile. It's known that a child tends to excel more in school when his name is not one of the bunch; he gets more attention with a unique name and is motivated to do well. I think this name is a gem.
My name is Shane and I love my name and I will be 35 this year
My name is Shane. I absolutely love my name. I like everything about it. I beli've It'suits me very well and i think i give the name a good .. name. hahaha I recommend SHANE being used for any baby born. The name brings good karma.
A very unique name, it began its popularity in the 1962's after a valiant soldier named Shane O'Neill helped wort off attacks from Queen Elizabeth in northwest Ireland. I'm a male Shane, born in 1997. My mom named me after a boy she had in her kindergarten class when she was a teacher. She'said it was the only Shane she ever met and she loved the name the moment she heard it. I really like it as well but not for a girl. The name'shane is original enough, you don't need a boy with a "Y" added unnecessarily. And I would have been such a happy child if the only way my name was made fun of was Shane the brain or Shane the pain. I received much harsher names than that. But I still really like my name even'though it actually is my middle name It's still the only one my mom calls me by even when mad lol.
I think Shane is an great name....now. As a kid I always wanted to be a Jason but eventually the name just grew on me. And like everyone says its a rare name, When I hear my name called I know they mean me. There is no Shane #2 in my group, unlike the andrews in my group of friends.
I am just on 60 years old - i've always felt VERY comfortable with my name. Met two othe's around my age when at school but none since then. Often get called Sean so I respond to that also. It's a great name & seems to get a posi've response during introductions
I get called Shawn alot by people who know me but can never quite get my name right."
I like my name. It's short, and generally just sounds good. My father chose it because he liked the'sound of it. Of course I hated the way people would pick on it by saying 'Shane the pain' or refer to the book Shane, but I wouldn't change my name.
I am a female Shane that was born in 1967. I often receive mail addressed to Mr. Shane ... There was 1 other girl named Shane in our community but I think she'spelled It'shayne.
my son is 6 months old and his name is Shane, shane means god is gracious he is a gift from god. His name is just perfect for him.
My name is Shayne I love the way my name is spelled. I don't think I ever met another'shane in real life I rarely see it in movies even! My whole life people call me Shaun and It's such a pet peeve of mine because I feel like Shayne/Shane/Shaun is such a unique name! I'm glad to hear im not the only one called Shawn. Why is that'such a weird phenomenon, even family members have slipped up and said that its so weird haha
Shane is my daughter's name. she's nine. It's my favorite name in the whole world!
I love my son's name. "Shane", to me, has always had a surfer'sound to it which fits our family. He is now 13 and we hear the name alot these days. There were two other kids in kindergarten named Shane, when he was little. I wish I would have changed the'spelling a little to make it a little unique!
Shane is an Irish name. Sean, Shane and Eoin mean John. Eoin is Galeic. Sean is Norman Galeic. Don't know the history of Shane. But it is very popular in northwest Ireland.
