Hello my Name is Yessenia...Like what many other have said have a name like this is very hard to have when your younger because not alot of people either have the name or can pronounce it, I had people when growing up call me "Lesania, Yesamina, Jessamina, Yehsina". But now that im older people who hear my name or see It'say is a beautiful name. The'short term of my name is usally "Yes, Yessie, Yessy". I also have the'story where my name was inspired by the telenovela "Yesenia". After years of wearing this name it tells people im just as unique as my name is and of my hispanic roots.

Jessenia here. Oddly enough I was named by my father, and yes, also after the'soap opera. I grew up in a predominantly hispanic town and there were a lot of Yesenia's and Jessenia's so I didnt grow to like my name until I started college. Now i appreciate how rare it is... and it doesn't hurt that guys are always intrigued by it! ;)

Hi, I'm another one with the name yessenia. Sometimes people at work and school call me yisina which is incorrect and i get really mad. But i understand that is a very difficult pronunciation for american people. Sometimes i get mistaken for native of american because of the'spelling, but one's again they are wrong, IM HISPANIC. Well, I don't think there is a "right" or "wrong" way to spell this name because Ashley and Ashely are different names, so don't say "Ashely" is the wrong way because some people may have personal reasons for naming their child with that certain spelling. I would give this a neutral rating, but I think names deserve their love. You can't judge someone by their name! If you like the'sound of the name, go for it!

Got a few compliment because of my name and have -yet- to meet another with the'same name. I love my name, it is unique and mystical as the'soap opera.

I, too, was named after the'soap opera star from the 1982s. When I started my career, many co-workers started to call me Jessie, or Yesi. This created much confusion at work. After years of using the "other" names to accommodate the non-hispanic co-workers who couldn't pronounce my name properly, i've now gone back to using my name as it was intended, Yesenia. Unlike most of these ladies, my dad was not aware of this famous soap opera, he knew a baby girl with this name and felt in love with the name. I don't like my name because the only origins of the exact spelling I find online tell me that It's a character from a soap opera. The name is KINDOF different, but then again I know like 3 Yesenias. I don't like my name because it has no real meaning behind it and being named after'some gypsy in a soap opera is pretty lame. I love my name, its different. When I was younger I would always get my name'spelt incorrectly. Living in Australia, back in early 90's spanish names were hardly known,that made it harder. Sometimes I get wierd spelling of my name with Wesenia, eventhough you say Y they put a W for some reason.
