The origin of Alina Is still debatable. Some believe that it comes from Arabic and is related to “illustrious”. Alina is very popular among Germans and that’s why some other experts say it stems from “Adeline”, which is a diminutive of Adele. In German, Adele means noble. Interestingly, people of Scotland believe that Alina is the male version of Alistair. Alistair is the Gaelic counterpart of Alexander. In this version, it would mean defender of men. In Armenian, Alina means ‘bearer of light’. One thing that is common among all these versions is the noble theme. This name is not very common in English speaking countries.
