I have always liked my name. I was named after my grandmother who died 3 weeks after my dad was born. I like it because it is different and unuasual. It is pronounced Al ta (as in ta-da)not Alda or Elda or Elsa or the worst Alda. I know one Alta younger than myself but most are elderly and they too have reported they like their name for the'same reasons I do.
My name is Alta Lynn and it is always mispronouned and I don't even bother with letting people try and spell it. I just say, my name is "Alta" A L T A. I like it now that I am older (in my 30's) but it was my great grandmother who initially chose the name. So that would fit in with the popularity of the 1890's. I get people who either really like it or say, "wow, that's an unusual name". Or, "Is that your first or last name❤️"
My name is Alta Rose and i've always been called Rose or Rosie. So, it was weird in certain situations like being in school where I was called by my first name and no one had any idea who the name belonged to. Then, baking to pronounce it was a whole other ball game.
Alta is my middle name, and I love it! I like that it means "deep" in Latin but also means the'sea, like how in English we might call the ocean "the depths" or "the deep." We pronounce it both Al-ta and All-ta. I think both are pretty and It's been handed down for so long in my family that we just call it whatever we feel like. I love my name. My brother is thinking of giving the name to his daughter!
My name is Alta Faye. I was named after my grandmother and she was named after a cousin, so I am the third recipient of these names in my family. I have always gone by Faye since my grandmother was Alta. It was pronounced Al-Ta in my family, but othe's always pronouce it All-Ta. I didn't like the name when I was a child because people would shorten it to Al-t or Al-Tea. I have never met anyone w/the'same name as me.(Amazing similarity between me and the previous responder!)
My name is Alta and I love it. Such an old forgotten name, like my young forgotten soul!
My name is Altafay pronounced Al'ta fay' exactly as it is spelled. I was born in 1963 and I have met one person named Alta Fay (two names)who was born in 1962. I was named after a friend of my mother's best friend. I did not like my name as a child because of the mispronunciation and misspelling. I have grown to love it due to It's uniqueness and beautiful sound.
Hi, Yes, my name is Alta Fay. I was named after my grandmother. Yes, it is usually mispronounced and misspelled. My name is pronounced like it reads AL - Ta and fay of course. I haven't met but one person whose name was Alta. It is uncommon but I haven't had much trouble with the name over the years. I always like being unique.
