I love my name and I am forever complimented on how beautiful it is. It can often be spelt incorrectly Arian, Arien,Arianne etc and I am often called Arial (like the mermaid) but I dont mind.

The first comment implies that "Ian" is not a very common name for young people in the UK. On the contrary - in my schoolgroup I was one of four Ians. It is just a bit of a twist for parents not wishing to simply name their child "John" - a much more popular version of the name.
