Meaning of name Caden:
Caden is derived from a Gaelic surname, Mac Cadain (meaning son of Cadáin). The Gaelic word “cadáin” possibly means 'warrior, fighter,' but the etymology is a matter of debate. It is also thought that the name is derived from Adam, the first man, which would give it the meaning 'earth, the earth.' The MacCadáin clan was responsible for the upkeep and management of church land in their Scottish towns, a position they held from the late Middle Ages into the early modern era (which lends the name nicely to the meaning of Adam, i.e. caring for the church 'ground'). Caden is a very modern given name, originating only in this century, and distinct from the United States.

Friendships and relationships are the lifeblood of Nines, and they place a high value on love and affection. Nines are often exceptionally gifted artistically, and have a keen imagination and enterprising mind.
Popularity
The name Caden makes its debut on the American charts in 1992. The name gains a great deal of ground in just 10 years, rising more than 800 chart positions from 1994 to 2004. Caden meets the definition of a meteoric growth, along with his brother “Kaden”, both of whom have ascended the charts hand-in-hand. It turns out that American parents prefer Kaden with a "K" over the traditional Gaelic spelling of Caden with a "C" right now. In any case, so many new and almost inexplicable variations of the name have snuck onto the charts in the last decade that the traditional Caden is out on its own. These newly invented spellings (Caiden, Cayden, Kaden, Kayden, Kadin, Kadyn, Kaeden, and Kaiden) are taking our breath away. The overuse and manic respellings of popular “a-den” names (Aiden, Jayden, Hayden, Brayden, Kaden) are starting to backfire like an eye roll across America. It's a shame, though, because Caden has real Gaelic roots that have been lost in all this madness. We're not saying this is a bad choice for a name; we're just saying get the facts before you associate your baby with an overused nickname. What was once unique is now normal. we're just saying get the facts before you associate your baby with an overused nickname. Like so many of the othe's, we thought we were giving our son an original name with "Caden". Now every one I run into seems to have a son, neighbor or nephew named, Caden, Kaden, Cade, Cayden, Caiden, Kade, etc. I guess it didn't appear to be so popular because of all the different spellings.

CADEYRN my son Ancient Celtic Means "battle king" from Welsh cad "battle" and teyrn "king, monarch". Cadeyrn (also known as Catigern) was a 5th-century king of Powys in Wales, the son of Vortigern. Society today is multicultural and blending names from different cultures is the norm. Spelling aside this name evokes a powerful spirit and is a credence to anyone whom posses it
My grandson is named Caden. I never heard it until my daughter-in-law named him that in 2013. I love the name and so does anyone who hears it.

CADEN - I like this name its n't as common as Jaden but just as cute!!
A boy deserves a name with stren'th, and we found that in Caden. After discovering the name's Celtic roots stem from "battle" we were hooked. At 16 months he's very strong, both physically and willed, yet very affection'te; pater's we hope follow him through life. And I guess people can use it for a girls name, but "life ain't easy for a boy named Sue!"

Caden is a Welsh name meaning spirit of battle, I named my 4 1/2 month old son Caden LI'm,people seem to like his name but since they are unfamiliar with it don't know how to spell it, I have met quite a few people who have used the name for their son's or have a Caden in'their families, defin'tely gaining popularity,I thought I was having a girl and wanted to name her Cadence when I found out the baby was a boy I just changed it to Caden
Our daughter is named Caden. I'd never met anyone named Caden before - then saw it in'the 'Girls' section of a baby name book. Liked the meaning - little warrior - because it didn't mean 'doormat' or 'bitter'. She can be Cadi if she wants to later. So far, I still think It's a great name for a girl. She's the only girl Caden I know so far, but we've met a few boys.
I work at a day care and It's the name of every second kid there. Find something more original!
I'm 13 and my names Caden I wish it didn't get popular because I like to be different.
Well name Isn't Tameka, but I know a female name Tameka and she is a huge disgrace to this name, she is a hoe, roller and whore. I'mean come on now, she lost her virginity to a guy in an alley, now she is all over him but in general, I'must admit I like the name Tameka
We named our first boy Cameron back in 2010 in'the UK, popular scottish name but hadn't really filter down south when we named him. Londoners do pronounce it Camron as we're lazy and some of his classmates spell it that way but its no biggy. We mainly call him Cam or sometimes Cammy but now he's nearly a teenager he doesn't response kindly to that! Always get very positive comments when people find out what his name is, although his younger brother'seems to have stolen'the limelight now with Jude!
Sorry to everyone who thinks this sounds masculine. It doesn't. It is a unisex name which I don't find fair to kids. Also, there are so many differing spellings you are sure to cause confusion and/or frustration for your little one. Just pick an'ther name.
Caden is my osn's name and i absolutely love it!! I spelt it with a C thinking that was the "normal" way to say it, but every one who tries to wpell It'spells it with a K. I think the'spelling Caiden is beutiful too.

There is a Japanese girl's name which sounds like this name but It's spelt Rei. It is borne by, among othe's in Japan, the character Rei Tachibana/DynaPink, the only female member of the heroic quintet of the 1995 Super'sentai Kagaku Sentai (Science Squadron) Dynaman, a Power Rangers-like show later'shown on the American'tV show Night Flight, where DynaPink, however, was now renamed Slojin (just like the four Dyna-guys Hokuto Dan/DynaRed, Ryuu Hoshikawa/DynaBlack, Yousuke Shima/DynaBlue, and Kousaku Nangou/DynaYellow were renamed Wooshi, Huba, Franky, and Cowboy respectively).

When our daughter was born her dad did and still has great joy. Our daughter was adopted and when you find a birth mom to give you something so special we felt she needed a name like Abigail. She is a joy to both her parents and what better place to find stren'th and love then'the Bible. I hope as she grows up she finds she was given her first gift the gift of her name and enjoys It's meaning. Abigail Faith

Alot of my friends usally correct teache's for me. Like they say "sadie" and like the whole class well be like NO its "sha-day" before I even get to say anything. I was gonna name my kid, if I ever had a kid 'Caden' Mostly because I wanted to be two sylablles, but I wanted to name it after Johnny CADE You know. I'd probably already have one kid named Johnny anyway lol
I'm sorry if this is your name, or the name you like, or the name you gave your kids, but it drives me n'ts when parents make up names for their kids to show their originality. I hate it even more when'they "hip-ly" misspell names like "Deztini" or "Keidyn"; or add things like "J'" to names like "J'Shawn", or D' to "D'Shawn."
I loved this name long before my son was born and told my boyfriend when I got pregnant that if I was having a boy his name will be Caden whether he liked it or n't. Hehe. Luckily he loved it. Its n't that common and its a srong name, which he is turning out to be. The meaning "fighter" is suiting him quite well. I get a lot of comments on'the name and how cute it is.

We would love to call our next daughter, Fanny/Fannie. But in the UK the body part it is a euphemI'm for is even more shocking than it is in the US. What a shame! Associations aside. It'sounds so feminine and gentle. A highly desirable name. Sadly, it has to be someone other than me who starts its re-entry into popularity.
My son was born in 2015 I too had never heard of the name until I googled the word battle because he was in ICU and I had had a previous daughter who passed away, so Caden meant "Battle" or "Fighter" when we went to visit Caden in'the ICU there where 4 more Caden's in'there! I was shocked a name I hadn't heard of was the whole ICU neon'tal nursery! but The name fits him so perfectly! Good luck to all of you with Caden's :-)

My baby just turned 1, and my husband wanted to name him Cade as well, and I also met him halfway with CadeN, I liked it better than Cade because it is sounded cuter for a little boy, and when he gets older, Cade can be used as a nickname if he wishes.
Doesn't compare to Gabriel, (Gabes) Orlando or Jake. Weak and sissy.
My 10 month old is called Caden Brynley, He would of been a 'Kaiden Georgia' if he was a girl. My son Caden Joseph was born in 2001 and I went into labor still not knowing what his name would be. My husband liked Jaden and Cameron -- I did not like either of them. I said "why don't we combine them to make a name?" My husband said "you mean Jameron?" to which I said "no, silly, Caden." He said "is that even a name?" and I said "I don't know. I've never heard it before but I like the sound of it." When we got home from the hospital I looked it up in the baby book and it wasn't there. I fretted, thinking, did I just give my baby a made-up name? Anyway, it stuck and now I found out that there are others named Caden.

This is my 4 year old sons name. We thought it was very cool, and he is defintely the only boy at his school with this name! We shorten it to JJ which he loves, but he is actually very proud that he's different (and cool) and likes to tell people what he's called. The only problem we have is the 'older' generation have no idea what we are saying - he's been called James, Jake, Jack but we don't mind correcting them!
I'm due in October 2018, thats the only name my husband would agree on !
I love this name. If I ever have a son, he might be called Caden Elijah. I am concerned that he will be lost in messes of trendy and popular Jayden, Kayden, Haydens, Zaydens, etc.
My daughter who is now 23 yrs old is named Caden. She was named after her grandmother who is of Shephardic Jewish descent. Her named is pronounced differently; Cah-den. I am surprised to see the name become so popular for a boy. Does anyone else have a girl named Caden?
I named my daughter Caden Elyse. I had never heard of the name, but I had heard Jaden. Me and my sisters all start with C's so I kept that tadition going with my daughter. I have since come across a few more girls with this spelling. It is ok to use either'spelling, but I do wish that I had len'thened it to Cadence to avoid any confusion.

My husband and I had a time naming our first born son. We both knew that we wanted something unique. I looked through baby names and wrote down a few that I liked and one was Braden but it was just so common. So I took the B away and just started adding different letters to the name and we came up with Caden. I thought that we would be the only people in'the world with a little boy named Caden... that was in 2015 and I have heard it a lot since then. Now I am having a girl and I am naming her'saylor I have never heard it before either but I am sure I will when she is born... haha

As soon as we knew we were having a boy, we named him Caden. It's n't that popular here in'the UK, and is often mis-spelt with a 'Y', people to tend to call him Jayden or Haydn. His name is quite unique in playgroup at the moment.
shld we name a baby boy caden or that a weird name?
We had our baby boy on 2/20/10 and his name is: Quinn Franklin. I love it! It's unique, but not trendy or too strange. I like that it is a simple, strong name and i've always preferred one-syllable names for boys! I think Quinn's nickname will be "Q", which I also like.
2nd son caden andrew love the name, my other'son is kieran so sometimes i do get them mixed up but love both the names and don't know of anyone else with the name
We named our second daughter Alayna Marie (really close to one of the other people leaving a comment!). I knew a girl growing up with the name Alayna and always thought it was beautiful. It is sometimes mispelled and sometimes pronounced e-laina (we say it uh-lay-na).
This is the name we picked out for our first son'that will be born 09/11/2020. We are spelling it Bryson. So far everyone loves it, and we love the fact that it is n't overly popular.
I love my son's name. My husband and I thought we were being original as well so we chose the name Caden in 2012. The meaning fit him so well warrior/spirit of battle because when he was born he had some problems and made it through just like a warrior!
I am trying to think of a name for our first born if it is a boy. I recently found the name Caden and really like it. It's number one on my list now.
I picked the name caden micah for my son. because it was very different and new when i gave him the name.
I named my son caden, he was born 10/4/2008. I was looking through a baby book with names, they had It'spelled Kaden, didn't like the K, didn't want people To call him K, so I changed it a C, I never heard the name before. Everybody would ask me, what's his nam. I would say Caden, then'they would say, how do you spell it,
We named our son Caedon he was born 2007 I had never heard the name I created it from two names 1 being of Arthurian origin from Sir Cae and then added Don for strong, Sir Cae was true, loyal and kind
I looked up on a baby name'site while I was pregnant. As soon I saw the name Caden. I said, that is the name I want for my son. He is born now and his name fits. He is handsome and he is very strong just like the meaning of the name.
i love this name. i cant decide on how i will spell it (if i have a boy, i dont know yet, I'm only 10 weeks lol) but i think caden is the best spelling, or cayden, but the 'y' kinda makes it look girly, also i think if its spelled with a 'k' it appers girly.
My new grandson, born February 27, 2020, is named Caden. Although I beli've it is a Welsh name, he received this name because of his English heritage (as his grandfather and great-grandfather were born in England). I predict the name Caden will continue to gain popularity.
We named our first son Brayden & It's been perfect for him. he's now six years old and usually goes by 'Bray'. My middle name is Hayden, which is why we elected to go with the'spelling, Brayden. Now we're having issues coming up with a name for child number 3.
I like it, but with it getting so popular, I get adverse to it. MAybe in an'ther 10 years when it loses popularity I will like it again! :)
n't only is it made up, but It's so boring, just like all the other -aden/aiden names
My son's name is Caden Evan. When he was born in 2015, no one had heard of the name. Now, we're hearing it more, but we still adore it. It's meaning, "Little warrior", described his stren'th during a difficult pregnancy. he's perfect. And so is his name.
just named my 2nd son'that, he was born in December. i actually didnt realize it ewas becoming so common.
22 years ago I heard the name Caden ONCE and loved the name! It is so hard to beli've that last Friday he turned 22! :)
Our son was born on 16-08-2017 and we named him Caden, my partner found the name in a book and we both liked it, we understand it is an American name, but n't sure of this, until i read the above, everyone likes the name and ask if it is spelt 'C' or 'K', easy to get wrong i suppose.
I named my son Caden when he was born in 2015. I found it in a baby name book. I was looking for something different but have since found out it is now quite common.
Ugh. I hate my name'so much. It's terrible! I'm so annoyed with it, that I don't even want to be called Katie anymore! I want a unique name, like....Sabby, or Lucian!(too bad the last one is a boys name..)
My 9-month-old is named Caden. When we picked the name, I got it from mycutename.com and had never heard it before, which was a plus. As soon as we picked it we started hearing about other Cadens around where we live, but we loved It'so much we didn't care.
Yeah, Beverley for a boy disappered at the beginning of the fifties, just as I was being named it. Think "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash. And yes, March 29, 2021 below, just like your dad I was teased all my young life. At least as an adult moving in caring circles the teasing has almost disappeared, but It wasn't helpful being a teacher with the name.
My last name is Caden and now I have three friends with little boys named Caden (all spelled different ways). I'm so surprised that my rare last name has turned into a popular first name...long live the Cadens!
My son is named Caden, people often spell it Kayden.
My 3 year old son's name is Caden Michael. We love it and get tons and tons of compliments.
i've been living with this original name for 32 years, and it is nice to see that people are making it a popular choice for their kids.
We plan on naming our daughter Eden, but using the Hebrew pronunciation (Eh-den) since we are Jewish.
My Daughter and Son-In-Law named their fisrt son Caden in 2016. We are now finding many names that are close to it like; Haden, Eaden, Jaden, you get the picture. We are still told that it is and unusal name. We still love the name and of course the child that carries it.
Our son is named Cadyn. Love the name, and our unique spelling!
I always loved this name..but now it is just too popular to use :(
I am a female and my name is Cadan, and I hate that little boys are being named this, and people are over using this name and are spelling it in weird ways. I don't think there should be an "Y" or "I" or "K" in it. It is just like any name now that is out there. Like matt, where there is a billion Matts.
I named my gorgeous first born son Caden! I always had a name picked out if we had a girl, but picking a boy's name was sooo much harder! My husband could never decide on a name until he finally said Caden. I loved it the moment I heard it and still do. Although when Caden was born, it was still uniquie, but n't too unique. Now everywher I go I run into other Caden's and it is now considered # 5 on'the list as Most Popular Boys Names. Oh well.. still love the name! Of course, my Dad, who is old-fashioned, thought everyone would call him Cady and didn't like it..he thought John or Michael would be good. Now he'says the name Caden fits perfectly for my son...needless to say...nobody calls my son Cady! Caden is is...PERFECT name!
My son is named Caden Jackson and I love it. He is now almost 3 and at the time I never heard the name Caden'to much and now you hear it all the time. There is now 3 Cadens at my sons daycare. lol I call my lil mon'ter Cadeo. I hope they start making the key chains and cups with Caden on'them. I cant find his name on an'thing, it is getting more popular so I'm sure they will!
Isn't there a reptile called a caden? Oh no, that is caiman.
While I was pregnant with my daughter'sade', I was really stuck on names. While out to dinner with my mother one night, she'said "how about Sade?" As soon as I heard it,I knew that was the name for my little girl to be. Growing up, I have so many memories of my mother listening to Sade the'singer, she truly loved her music. The name fit her'so well. Very rarely does anyone pronounce it correctly. While trying to figure out how to spell it, I thought of spelling It'shade, however I didn't want people to call her'shade, so I spelled it exactly like the'singer, except I added a tilda over the e to be different. I have only heard of 1 other'sade in the 7 years since my daughters birth. All of her teache's have always called her'sadie or even Chardonnay (like the wine). I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE MISPRONOUNCE HER NAME!!! But I am glad I gave her a unique name.
So my name is Caden. Im 19. anyone know an older Caden? haha i dont!!
