We lived two years in California and loved the name Callie, but my husband didn't like the two LL's because he thought people may pronounce it collie, like the dog or a telephone call. So we went with one L. some people say "kay-lee" - even some baby books have it pronounced kaylee while othe's have it under caleigh. If it becomes too confusing, we'll give her a nick spelling of Cali for school, but officially she'll still have the formal beautiful spelling.

Haha, in response to Caleigh's comment from May 18, I'm also a Caleigh, and after my parents travelled to Scotland and attended various Ceilidh celebrations my mom decided she wanted to call me by that name, and she thought she was making up the'spelling as well! I'm also the oldest Caleigh I know with this spelling, and I'm 21! :) Cheers though, such fantastic and unique name! I would say as I'm sure many of you do too, if Caleigh means 'gathering of the clan' in Gaelic, then'the name certainly fits as I am defintely a party girl! And I get the mispronunciations too, but you take it with a grain of salt: hopefully having to practice pronouncing our names means its ingrained in people's minds a little more clearly :)
