I named my son Elisha and to me it is a beautiful biblical, but it is really frustrating because most people assume he is a little girl and pronounce his name "E-lee-sha" i have thought of changing it but, it would just feel wronge to call him by any other name, He is my baby Elisha now 14months old
i named my little princess Elisha buh i feel like changing it to Alicia people think she z aboy ts really annoying yet i love the name'so much ts e lee sha nt e lie sha
well it is mine and people often make a mistake while mentioning it but it is a nice name and every should name her daughter after cos it a french name.
For all of you who think that Elisha is a girls name and an alternate spelling of Alicia, consider this. Elisha, Alicia, and Alyssa are THREE DIFFERENT NAMES with THREE PARALLEL ORIGINS. Elisha comes from the Old Testament, an apprentice of Elijah. Alicia, a form of Alice, comes from Saint Adelaide, wife of Holy Roman Emperor Otto the Great. Alyssa has a THIRD parallel history and does NOT come from Elisha or Alicia, but rather, a greek phrase "a + lyssa" meaning "Rationality". If you are a girl and named Elisha as a spelling variant of Alicia, don't take offense, most likely your parents didn't know about the prophet Elisha. In that case, your name DOES come from Alicia, Alice, and Adelaide. Elisha (Ee + liy + shaw) is a GREAT NAME for a boy and you should name him this.
The name Francesca is my name and it was given'to me because it was my grandmother's name. It is traditional to pass names along from one generation to the next in our family. It is a beautiful name in Italy (the country is comes from) and since my dad imigrated to Canada from Italy, he chose this name for me. Personally, I love the name if I was growing up in Italy, but in Canada it is hard to pronounce. It is one of those names that only really works in the country it came from and it is not a name to transport to North America. This is just my opinion, and I own the name. In Canada where people speak English, the name can be easily mispronounced and I never enjoy listening to Asian people saying my Italian name. The Chinese language is so short and choppy sounding and they don't just pronounce Italian or French names in the correct way. Anyways, my opinion is that it truly is one of those names that works best in the country it originated from. Just like the Vietnemese name Quong works much better in It's orginal country. When people imigrate to Canada, it is much better to give the kids Canadian names. Just my opinion.
Yeah this is my name as well and all I got to say is that is a pain introducing myself to new people because of how uncommon the name is they can never get pronunciation of the name correctly. It is not a complex name but it does not make me feel anymore unique having this name because of how awkward it is. My advice is if you are planning to name your son this just don't. Plenty of better names out there.
I am a girl and this is my name. I absolutley hated that peipele could not pronounce It'so i changed it to Leesha. Much simpler and still going by the name my mother gave me. Never heard it was a boys name...absurd.
This is our son's name and everyone that hears it loves it and wonders how we came up with it. They all laugh when we say it was the only name we could agree on!
People read it wrong and think I'm a girl *****HOWEVER***** once I correct them . . . they remember, and complement me on my beautiful name. It has brought me a double portion of life.
It's my son's name. I'm sick of ignorant people thinking he's a girl. If Elisha is a misspelling of Alecia, those parents must have been idiots.
I think It's a cool name'someone else that's not me. Most people don't know how to say it because of the "E". And many people think that It's a boys name but it is a girl's name to. Im a girl who has that name people should be more open minded.
this is my nephe's name, it really suits him. It wouldnt be my first choice, but its a good solid name and i cant think of any awful nicknames.
November 1, '06, I had a son born at 26 weeks who we named Elijah, sadly he passed away two days later. November 1, '07 at 33 weeks we had Elisha.... The prophet and his predecessor...two babies born on "All Saints Day" . Yes I am constantly correcting people pronouncing it as E-lee-shuh or Elijah(which he doesn't mind too much because he'said it connects him to his big brother in heaven❤️), but I have met many little boys with the'same name'so its seems to be becoming a pretty popular name.
It is a confusing name, and People should not get bent out of shape because it was pronounced wrong Come on people its spelt Elisha. with all the different spellings of some of the older names now days You'really can't tell anymore..
yes It's my name and everybody call me Caro and I really like it because It's the name of princess Carolina de Monaco....I love it!!
Get ready to have your name pronounced "E-lee-sha". It is so very aggravating.
My name is Elisha (ee-lie-sha). I'm a guy and it drives me nuts when people assume it to be a girls name. I get over it though because the biblical meaning behind it is a blessing. I typically just go by eli.
This is my name but I also spell it different, Lyndsi. No one ever knows how to pronounce it. Its frustrating but at the'same time I enjoy being unique.
