Meaning of name Francesca:
Francesca is the Italian feminine form of Francis. The masculine given name Francis comes from the later Latinate Franciscus, a vocabulary word denoting 'Frenchman' or 'Frenchman'. This was a nickname given to Saint Francis of Assisi (whose given name was actually Giovanni) due to his wealthy father's business connections in France and his general admiration of the French. Saint Francis had a pleasant happy childhood, but as a young man, a couple of bad experiences led him to withdraw from the material world and devote himself to the poor and sick. After a few disciples joined him, these so-called Franciscans dedicated themselves to humility, poverty and love for all living creatures. San Francisco (San Francisco or to Spanish) is often depicted surrounded by animals, especially birds. It's no wonder that Saint Francis is the patron saint of animals and the environment, but he is also the patron saint of Italy. Thanks to the cult that grew up around Saint Francis, the name spread in the 14th century and became even more popular during the Italian Renaissance of the 16th century. This ancient classical name has given rise to various forms in various languages, including Francis and Frank. (English), François (French), Franz (German), Francisco (Spanish), and Francesco or Franco (Italian). The female versions of this name are Frances, Francesca, or Françoise and the many pet forms include Franny, Frank, Fran, Fanny, Frankie, Frannie, and Sissy. Francesca is currently a top 10 most popular female name in Italy. but he is also the patron saint of Italy. Popularity
The gorgeous Francesca didn't appear on the US popularity charts until 1953 and for the first 20 years she only sort of languished at low levels of usage. The name's popularity rose modestly during the 1970s, '80s, and '90s. Its peak of popularity came in 1996 at position #353 on the charts. This was probably influenced by one of the best selling books of the 20th century (50 million copies!) “The Bridges of Madison County”, published in 1992 in which the main character is named Francesca (the movie was made in 1995, starring Meryl Streep as the beautiful but only Italian Francesca). Since the beginning of the 21st century, however, Francesca has been in decline. This is a head-scratcher. Other Italian beauties have shown improvements on the charts as American parents are gravitating to these flowery, romantic, Latin elaborations of names. Adrianna, Gianna, Giuliana and Luciana are some Italian female names that come to mind. But Francesca is particularly lovely and a wonderful alternative to Frances for Italian-American parents or those who appreciate more ethnic-sounding names. It's also a name to reckon with for Francophile parents out there since its root origin means "French." The Franks (French) derived their name from Old Germanic meaning "free" - so Francesca's name also denotes a certain free spirit. Francesca is one of our most favorite Italian names-she's elegant, Classy and has a precious connection to Italian history and Italy's patron Saint Francis (lover of animals and nature). And while we like to see such a pretty name truncated or shortened, it's not hard like nicknames or Chesca Frankie for a girl.

my name is francesca and i've had both good and bad experiences with it. people tend to say they like my name and give compliments. i've never met anyone else called francesca, i live in england and i was born in 2015 so that might be something to do with why. It's annoying when people call me franny on purpose because of a slightly rude term that It'sounds like... i've had teache's spell it wrong and mispronounce it a lot too in front of the whole class which is kind of embarrassing. i usually get called fran by everyone and that's how i introduce myself, but close family have always called me frankie.
the name Gabrielle is SO MUCH prettier than plain old-fashioned Amelia.
My names Francesca but i often get called Frankie which i don't mind. In my class at school ther's another girl named Francesca aswell so It'sometimes gets confusing. It used to be very hard to find anything with my name on it... now its hard to not find it lol
one of my best friend ever's name is francesca. she got mad at me when i first met her because i spelled her name franchesca. i call her ces, pronounced like the game che's.
My name is Franchesca (with the H) and I love it! I like the H because it helps people pronounce it and It's the western version of the name. I love having a unique name, and a lot of my friends call me chesca.
I love the name Francesca, but most of all, I love my baby daughter, Francesca...or Frankie as we sometimes call her (but don't tell her grandmother about the Frankie nickname).
I like my name but sometimes people pronounce it wrong. Mine is spelled different though. Franchesca
This is the name we gave our firstborn. It was taken from his parents Da(vid) and (Kar)en and was also a "jumble" for his grandmother "Edna". We liked it because it was short, easy to pronounce, easy to spell , wasn't weird and we personally didn't have anyone we knew that was named that. he'says he's happy with his name.
I love love love my name, even'though I have to correct anyone who Isn't Italian on how to pronounce it. I Hate being called Fran, but my friends do it anyway. Cesca is my other main nickname though. Basically I almost wish this wasn't my name'so I could name my daughter Francesca!

My name is Francesca, and I like it. My friends never actually really call me Francesca, because there's a lot of nicknames that work with it. The thing is, I used to like that not many people had the'same name as me, and that my name was somewhat rare. But now i've found that It's become more popular, which makes it feel less unique. Right now I think I know four other Francesca's!

I love the fact no one can pronounce my name, or spell it. its a sign of uniqueness. I tend to get called Frankie, Fran, Cesca, Chesco, All sorts. My best freind calls me frank, or frankank. because shes special. (': I used to hate my name but i've really grown fond of it now. :D
I named by daughter Francesca Annabelle. There was a girl in my 6th grade class named Francesca and from that moment on, I knew thats what I would name my daughter. I love the name because its different, but not so different that its hard to pronounce. With all the "new" phonetically spelled names out there, why not use a traditional yet beautiful name❤️
I'm thinking of naming my future daughter Francesca. I think It's classy, feminine, ageless..
I have a very close friend name Francesca, but I often butcher her name and call her things like Franchezgulla or Franchezilla. It's quite fun beause this name can have a million and one nicknames. Plus I love my Cesca. ;D So I could never dislike this name.
I love this name! I have only met one Francesca my whole life and she was sweet and beautiful. I am pregnant now and if It's a girl, I'm going to name my daughter this name. I want something beautiful, classic, and rare for her.

My name is Francesca and people have always told me it was a beautiful name. I love my name! Some have tried to shorten it to Fran, but I prefer Frannie if they know me well. When I was born in the 50's hardly anyone had the name.

Most people want to place an "h" after the "c" when it does not have one! It is of Italian origin, does NOT have an "h"...and even'though it has become more popular, people still can't seem to pronounce it right.
i love my name but since im hispanic i spell it differently, Francheska ive had people criticize it but i love my name because it is unique in the way its spelled!
