My name is Kaleen, actually, but I'm assuming It's pronounced the'same way. I can't stand people trying to say it correctly because even if I correct them, they still say it wrong. i've gotten "Kaylynn", "Kyleen", "Colleen", "Kathleen", and "Kayleen". When people try to write it, it always ends up "Colleen" or "Kolleen". It's soooo annoying.

My daughter is named Kalene (we pronounce it Kay-leen) and we have never met another one. It does get spelled wrong often and mispronounced. She loves being the only one with her name in her'school though.

My name is kalene and I have never come across anyone with the'same name until typing it into a search engine.It was great to see the name with faces belonging to it on the facebook site, although most of those sharing the name live in the USA and appear to be younger than me. I am 34 and live in Manchester,England.Over the years I have had numerous spellings and pronounciations even by family members! And every time you meet someone and tell them your name they usually ask where it came from and what it means.This is what I would like to find out properly as my mum said she got the name from a womens magazine in the hospital where I was born. She'said its meaning is 'elegant lady' and that is why she chose it because she liked the'sound and the meaning and didn't want me to be another'sharon, tracey or maxine which were popular names at the time. My mum also remembered that the name was old english. As it is a long time ago and my mum can't remember the name of the magazine I have not been able to confI'm this meaning and origin in print, although an aquaintence who had a knowledge of greek and an inter'st in names thought the meaning was plausible as the prefix 'kal'is related to the term beauty.So my search will continue no doubt, along with the misspelling and questions but its nice to be original.
