Laraine meaning

My parents named me after the actress Laraine Day. We lived in Scotland and they were star struck. My whole life I have had to spell my name out for everyone. I do love my name though and passed it on to my daughter as her middle name. My parents pronounce it LA-rain.

Love it because it is different! Always have to spell it but once spelled to new friends they always remember it. I have had the name for 72 years.

My name is Laraine people spell it Lorraine then when I correct them they tell me I have spelt it wrong. I was called after Laraine Day the American actress as my Dad had a crush on her lol mostly I am called Lara and people say how do you get Lara from Lorraine grrrr that winds me up when I tell them my name is not Lorraine It's spelt Laraine so take inevoff and you have ........LARA doh!!

My mother was named after the famous actress in the 40's, Laraine Day. She always said it was the American way of spelling it as the french Lorraine. Growing up, she went by Laurie because every one misspelled it. I love her name'so much I call her by her first name more often'than mom.

my name is Laurraine - spelt differently fromthe'standard way. In fact almost never'spelt the'same way twice! On my birth certificate it is actually spelt Lauraine which I prefer and wish on all my other legal documents it was spelt that way. It would probably have been easier to call me Lauren!
