My daughter is the fifth generation of Leonoras. My mother went by Lee, I'm known as Nora, and my daughter is called Lea.
P.G. Wodehouse's wife Ethel was married once or twice before, and one of her former marriages produced a daughter Leonora, born in 1904 and subsequently adopted by Wodehouse when he married her mother in 1914. Unfortunately, Leonora - who in the Thirties became Mrs Peter Cazalet #1 - died in 1944 following an operation, leaving her own daughter'sheran and son Edward without a mother, though her own mother and stepfather lived till they were old.
My name is Leonora and although I think it is very beautiful I have never actually met another Leonora. It is pronounced "Leo-nora", however, all my life I have been called names such as Leonor, Leonie, Lenora, Leondra and even Leonard! For this reason I often introduce myself as Lee.
