My name is leyla and my dad was raised in Istanbul turkey and mom is a huge rock and roll fanatic, especially Eric Clapton, so leyla just seemed to fit. My name always get mispronounced but It's like LAY- la , but e instead of a.
I like the name and how It's kinda "Unique" but people spell it wrong a lot or they ask how to spell the name. They spell it like "Laylah, Leila, Layla" and they pronounce it like "Lee-la, or Lila" I don't meet many othe's with the'same name, the only person i've met with the'same name was a girl in my elementary school but her name was spelt "Laylah"
It's my name, and I love it! My mother was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and named me after the'story Leyla ile Mecnun. A Romeo and Juliet type story that predates Shakespeare. :) I too get called lee-la and lie-la, but more often now, people are actually able to pronounce it correctly.
my name is leyla. i like it quite a bit. its such a pretty name. but often people pronounce it lee-la. unfortunately the most common spellings of my name are layla, laila, or leila so my name is usually spelt wrong.
