A Phoenix is an ancient mythological bird that has appeared in legends and traditions spanning from Greece to Egypt, from Europe to Asia, and from Persia to Arabia. In other words, the Phoenix has held a position of prominence and respect across many ancient cultures and geographic distances. The word Phoenix is derived from the Greek “φοινιξ” (phoinix), meaning 'crimson, dark purple-red', probably referring to the birds' colorful deep red or crimson feathers and tail. The phoenix symbolizes rebirth and renewal by virtue of its 500-year life cycle during which time it builds a nest and then, at the end of its life, lights the pyre in a bright and fierce flame. From the ashes of her corpse a new, young Phoenix emerges. So too there is a sense of immortality with the Phoenix. Phoenix is also a name that appears in Greco-Roman mythology as the brother of Europe. He was sent by his father in search of his sister who had been kidnapped by Zeus. After ending up in Africa, Phoenix gave his name to the people who were henceforth Phoenicians. The capital of the state of Arizona is Phoenix, so named because the remains of an ancient, indigenous dwelling were recovered in the area. The idea of building this new city represented a rebirth or renovation of housing on a previously occupied site. Aside from the United States, Phoenix is also a name used in Australia (albeit for boys and not girls). He was sent by his father in search of his sister who had been kidnapped by Zeus. Personality
One personalities strive for efforts and have the ability to apply their creative and innovative thinking skills with strong determination. Obstacles are met head-on with such mental stamina and energy that it is best to step aside. They resent order taking, so don't try telling them what to do either. They are an intensely active personality, but they are also known as starters rather than classifieds. They have a propensity to become bored and will quickly move on to the next project if not challenged properly. They are the ones who think up and put brilliant new ideas into action, but they are not the one who should stay and manage them. This personality has an enthusiastic and pioneering spirit. They are clearly original.
Popularity
Oddly enough, this name is a unisex name in America. We have found this surprising because the name has a distinctly masculine resonance. The name is not widely used by any means, although it is nearly twice as popular for young boys as it is for girls. Except for one or two spikes on the charts, Phoenix is 'rising' on both the male and female charts. We wouldn't be worried about overuse; this name is too exotic and unusual to ever gain a massive following. Phoenix is a cool name. It is a place name and a mythological name. But above all, it is unique and different.

Phoenix is such a lovely name! I love it for a boy or a girl, I love the mythical meaning and plus my favorite actor River Phoenix, it is so special to me! =)
I named my son Phoenix, after the Mythical bird /in honour of my baby girl who I lost at 4.5 months pregnant. Although I had decided on his name before he was born, When he was born he literally made chirping sounds like a baby bird..... It really does suit his personality ❤️❤️❤️

My daughter's name is Phoenix. Picked that name in memory of my mom. She passed away from cancer and was cremated. To me it was like a rise from the ashes with no more pain. What was amazing was that my daughter was born with the exact same red hair as my mom. She's beautiful.

We named our son Phoenix because he was born with a heart condition that almost cost him his life. he'survived, reborn from the ashes, and he is thriving and healthy now.
This is a very odd name, and its major con is that'strangers usually don't know how to spell or pronounce it, but I love the way It'sounds. I don't think I'd name my child this, but i've always been attracted to the name.

We named our son Pierce Elliott and we just love it. We get so many compliments on it. My husband is a fire-fighter and Pierce is the name of the company that makes the fire trucks. =) My hubby is a car fanatic and so all of our animals are named after cars. This just happened to be perfect and it was the only name we could both agree on.
My name is Phoenix and when people spell my name wrong i usually comment."We literally live in the'state with the city name of phoenix and you can't even spell my name right." i find it quite funny
We named our son Phoenix. My man is from China orginally so I wanted a name that gave him that link to his father's culture but also for other reasons. Most of my niece's/cousin's kids are named after places (not on purpose!) so since Phoenix is also place name, I thought it was fitting :-) I love that my son has an original name (it is very rare in the UK) We hope he'll love it when he's older and all his friends have boring names like Jack, Callum and George.
Phoenix is my name, and most of the time people don't beli've me because they say its too strange, and are surprised when'they find out It's my real name.
My daughters name is Phoenix and I absolutely love it and I hope she will when shes an adult as well.
