We named our son who is a 6 month old, KALEN pronounced as K-ALLEN. When I got pregnant i start looking at baby names, i want it to be unique unlike those names that everyone has it, like mark, micheal etc. When i finally came across to this name i instantly fell in love with it. It's an irish name, means mighty warrior. Now most of the people pronounced it incorrectly, we just correct them. Nice to know that everyone here loves the name kalen like i do.
This was my Mom's middle name. Her full name was Emily Leatrice. Her parents were first generation I'migratns from Italy. The custom was to name the child after an ancestor or relative in the paternal line. Since this was America my grandparents named her after their mothe's. Emily (Emilia) for her paternal Grandmother and Leatrice (Letizia) for her maternal Grandmother. She loved the English versions of her name. She pronounced her middle name as if saying Leah-trice.
