Caryn meaning

My name is Caryn, pronounced Car-in. I have met one other but it was spelled Karyn. I am told the Norweign spelling is Carrin. I do like my name as it is unusal, althought everyone calls me Karen.

My mother named me Caryn. Strangely it does not show up in English til 1966 and seems to have only stuck around a few years. Whooped Goldberg's given name is Caryn Johnson and she and I (and Oprahsre the'same age. Also Elvis Costello and Jerry Seinfeld!

People always say it wrong. Well either that or my parents do. I pronounce it "Karen" but people often say "Ca/rin" or add letters and say "Carolyn". It also is often mispelled on checks or other things. I don't think I have ever met someone who spelled AND pronounced their name the'same as mine. I'mean I like my name because it is unique but it can get annoying too.

Yes, Catherine is a classic name, handed down for hundreds of years. The trouble is, It's just not pretty. It'seems like a good name for a spinster librarian or someone who has their hair bun pulled too tight. It's very ponderous and forbidding. For a more feminine and prettier version, go with the'softer Cathleen or Kathleen. OR, if a person is dead-set on using Catherine for whatever reason, the'spelling Kathryn is far more pleasing!

I would hate my name if it weren't spelled CARYN, but since it is spelled that way I LUV it!! I think It's so unique and It's totally me. I get compliments on the'spelling often.. People do spell it wrong alllll the time and sometimes add an "l" to it like Carlyn or Carolyn or something like that. When I go to restaurants I give my mom's name because I know they'll spell mine wrong! However, I did that the other day and they spelled my mom's name wrong! Her name was Tessie... ı

I feel bad for the name "Karen". Caren, Caron, Caryn...geez why not settle for Karen❤️
