My daughter was born July 2021 and we named her ila rose. we pronounce it "eye-la" and love the way It'sounds and the island origin of the name. We thought about spelling Isla, the'scottish origin, but thought ila was more simple and hopefully easier to pronounce.
My name is Ila Ruth. From the'south where people use 1st and middle name. I love my name as my last name is 'Devine" Ila Ruth Devine; has a swing to it. I always have used my double name and proud of it and want to be called by first two names. I was named after an Aunt Ila and an Aunt Ruth as people in that part of the country in 1920 to 1940 and maybe now feel you should name your children after'someone you know.
My name is Ila .. I was born in 1934 that makes me 86 this year .. love my name now but did not like it growing up .. ..

i was named Ila Karren after my grandmother of the'same name. my name use to drive my insane because no one would ever pronounce it right (its Eye-Lah) or if i would say it no one would spell it right. though over the years ive grown to love It'since i always know when some one is yelling for me and not someone else. plus ever'since my grandmother passed a way to make it feel like shes being remembered since i think of her everytime someone calls out my name. i love it.
I am thinking of naming our baby Ila - if its a girl - but I like it pronounced I-la (eye-la.
Do you all pronounce it Il-a??
My name and I have liked the name. Most people try to make the'spelling harder. I have met several with that name, one lady probably born in the late 1800's and another born about 1910. My mother heard the name on a girl she attended school with and that lady would have been born about 1910. A gal now probably in her 30's and now I have met a baby. The parents of the baby were told the name was Hindu, harkly I would think since it has existed in this country with the Ila spelling since in the 1800's. When in Europe the'scandanavians claimed it exspecially the Norwegians.
My name is Ila, by religion I am Hindu and my name is an ancient Sanskrit name literally meaning Earth. Ila is also the name of the Hindu goddess of sacred speech and is recognised as the daughter of Manu (in Hindu traditions, Manu is a title accorded to the first man), having arisen from a sacrifice which Manu performed for the purpose of obtaining off-spring. In Hindi it is pronounced Ee-la but does sometimes get mispronounced as Eye-la. Im often'told I have a beautiful name'so Im quite proud of it!
I was named Ila after my nannies I love it now. I'm 56 years old and the meaning of Ila sounds just like me and my passion for island and the love for Indians and not the ones from India. I love Native American Indians
Ila was the name of my husbands grandmother. My baby is due June 07, 2019. If it is a girl we plan on naming her Ila.
Dude. I'met a really cool girl named ila. We don't know what her name means. The'search online goes on.

The'spelling Isla gets on my nerves, Ila is the origional spelling in my eyes.

My name is Ila (Eye-lah). I am named after my Granner (Great grandmother), who i never got the chance to meet. I am 11 and recently met a 13 yr old with the name'spelled the'same and also named after her great grandma. I never'see it printed on tings much and i still dont know what it means. when people hear my name they think it is spelled Iluh. I think Ila is easier.
correct way to say it is (eye luh) . It is often misspronounced. I am called all sorts of things, rarely ever Ila , the way it is supposed to be pronounced. I never can find the meaning of it though.
We're thinking of naming our daughter Parker. I absolutely love it!
