It is a more unusual version of Karen so that is nice. People pronounce it quite differently. I didn't meet someone with my name until I was 20 actually!
O.M.G THAT IS MA CUZENS NAME AND SHE IS SO FUNNY AND IF You'reAD THIS CHANGA I LONE SOOOOOOOOMUCA YOU DONT EVEN NO
in 1979 my parents disagreed about what my name'should be. My mother wanted to name me Dierdre, my father did not want a child who could be nicknamed 'Deedee'. My father'said "We need a nice *normal* name, how about Karen". My mother'said 'oh, ok' and promptly changed the'spelling to Karin. In Kindergarten my teacher told me I spelled my name wrong, I had to get my mother to write a note explaining that it was *she* who spelled it wrong, not I. :-) I kind of like it now--my name is probably what created the best friendship of my childhood, with a girl named Karen.
I see this name (my name) with the "i" spelling from time to time, in credits and professionally, and It'seems to be all among people of my age bracket or older - I'm in my 30s. Yet when I'meet people unfamiliar with this spelling they somehow can't beli've it. Were my parents being snooty❤️ Did they make it up❤️ Are we from Sweden❤️ How silly - It's just a northern Europoean variant of a VERY common name. Karin is VERY common as well in other parts of the world. Not saying I like having a common name, but It's slightly more inter'sting than Karen and It'shows a connection to my German and Dutch ancestry (insetad of being so blandly "American")! Now that I have preschoolers, I haven't seen ANY Karens/Karins in school. I like it, and thankfully I don't have to compete with any Karen/Karin friends. They're all named Jennifer!
Karin is a very popular name in Germany, just like Karen is very common in England. Too common for my liking! It (Karin) sounds somehow too 'masculine' for a woman.
My name is Karin. I like it now, not like before; People used and still use to call me Karina, Karen, Keren. But I don't really care how people call me. The name is rare in my country, and the name is inter'sting if you learn about it.
I have always liked my name. Here in Sweden it has always been popular. It's a connection to my home and at the'same time not to strange to people from other countries.
