I adore my name! I couldn't ask for anything better. I would hate to be a Jen or Stephanie. I know I'm weird and unique and my name reflects that. I LOVE any nick name people come up with for me. A hilarious favorite was "Black Tabbath." I had one teacher call me "Tiffany" all year because she didn't know my name, and my boyfriends grandmother used to call me Tammy. I had teache's call me Tabita, that was annoying. All in all I love my name and wouldn't change it for anything.

I grew up calling my father's mother, "Granma Tabby". She was born in 1895 in Casey County, Kentucky. Her name was spelled "Tabitha" and was pronounced "tah-BUY-thu". She was named after a very good woman in the Bible, who made clothing for the poor. She died and the people in her village asked for the disciple Peter, who came and raised her from the dead in the name of Jesus. (Tabitha's name in Greek was Dorcas, and her'story is in the Book of Acts 9:36-42). My mom named me Tabitha because it was a witches name... ha

I'm 26 and my name is Tabitha Elaine. I used to dislike it for some of the reasons above, (especially being asked if I can'twitch my nose!). But now that I'm older I love it! When people say Tabitha everyone knows they are taking about me, instead of saying Ashley and having 30 people answer!

Well, I am met with a mixed reaction from most people. The most frequent occurrence that I deal with is listening to people mispronounce the name. Usually, with such an uncommon name, I encounter people who are perplexed by the fact that my name is not common, so I often encounter people who want to know my ethnicity. Generally, people tend to ask me this over the phone rather than in person. Not having a recognizable accent doesn't help matters much. All and All, I can say, like most people, I wish I had the last word when it came down to choosing my name.

You can find guys who are called EMMANUEL or Joseph-Emmanuel, etc. As a girl, I think that EMMANUEL is a cool sexy name (solid, biblical name). People usually spell it EMMANUEL or EMANUEL. In Spanish it is written MANUEL.
