Van meaning

My husband's name is Ivan and he would really like a junior. I agree, as long as we have a name to call the baby that can be his name all the time-- not just an affectionate name at home, but he goes by Ivan at school-- so, we're thinking Van, although the full name will be Ivan. :)

I don't know. I think you say it the'same as the word van, not von. My experience is that Vaughn is pronounced "von", not Van! I know someone named Van. he's the only one i've ever known named that. Good name! Thumbs up! I like Van Michael (pronounced van) and Vaughn (pronounced von) Jacob as names.

I thought Van was French/Vietnamese middle name. But It's Dutch❤️

My boyfriend's last name is Vanderwal, but everyone calls him Van. I think It's a really cool name; It's short, It's masculine and It's original. When people don't recognize what his name is at first I'll say It's 'Van', like 'Van Halen.' If we ever have kids *fingers crossed* I'd like to give them names that have Van in them, like Vanessa or Evan.

I am expecting my first son late August 2020 and his name will be Van in remembrance of my Husbands grandfather who's last name was Van but used it as his first name!! I love this name.

We named our son with this name but we chose to spell it with a zed (Zavier), we chose to do this because we didn't want people to call him ex-,ay-vee-er. So instead we went with the French pronunciation of za-vee-yay, I think that's the most romantic pronunciation of the name, and he certainly lives up to his name, he is splendid and bright! UK

My wife and I are having a baby in June. We find out if it is a boy or a girl in a little more than a week. If it is a boy we have been decided on the name Van for a long while...well at least I have. I love this name! My sons name is Van Francis. I decided very quickly that this would be his name Van is short but strong and can stand on It's own and standing next to the femineness of Francis softens it. I'd recommend having a middle name with more than one syllable to offset the'shortness of "Van." Since it ends in a consonant it has a short clipped sound and sounds good with a longer middle name.

Our son's name is Van Eben Ray.
