Love the name! Awesome vintage name! Don't like it for a girl....too masculine!
Sounds grandad-ish as a boy's name but cool as a girl's name, a la Stanley or Murray. For girls, it is often spelt Wallis - which was once tied to the Duche's of Windsor AKA Mrs Simpson but chosen in 2012 by 'ER' actor Anthony Edwards for one of his twin daughters.
Love the name Wallace and I don't find it grandad-ish. People are bringing back the "old names" like Fredrick, Dudley, George, even Henry. So many people are going back to using family names from loved ones.

My son's name is Geoffrey Wallace. Born early 2018. Thought Wallace made for a great middle name.
Too stuffy! n't too thrilled with Barry either which would be the only likely nickname.
I used Wallace as a middle name in 1998 when I named my son Cameron Wallace. It was my maiden name. My son likes it because of the movie Braveheart, where Sir WillI'm Wallace was the hero. I'must say he lives up to the "Braveheart" legacy!!! Very courageous and brave in difficult circumstances!
Walter is such a beautiful name. It's become quite rare but that makes it even more inter'sting. Definitely thumbs up!
