hey I'm called Aileen, but everyone always pronounces it as Eileen when you say it like ay-leen (its because I'm irish) i have a friend who can't spell my name and i say he'should be glad i don't spell the gaelic way which is Eibhilin!
i just named my daughter Neelia, her grandmother is aileen, so we reversed it. everyone loves it.
Beautiful name as it is, shinning brightly, a light. Where ever I go I felt lively, vibrant eventhough people spell, pronounced it wrongly it doesn't matter as it give room for me to get to know people better. Every conversation is like an encounter people getting inter'sted in you & your unique name not just a Hi & Bye thingy. Yes they mispronounced and forget each time nevertheless the nxt round when we met up it ended up smiling oppss... Your name is errr... Hmmm...
It's my name, and I love it! I hardly ever encounter anyone else with the'same name. It's constantly pronounced wrong, but I don't care. I still love it.
Awesome name, naturally, since I named my daughter Erin Aileen. Aileen is typically pronounced in Ireland as "Ay-leen," wherein the "ay" sounds like a long "a" as in the word "hay".
Yes, My name is Amelia. I like it because it is not common. My nickname is Mimi. As a child people misspelled and mispronounced my name alot.
The proper'spelling for a boy is Jaden. The y makes it a girls name. I think it is a wonderful name. Strong, simple and uncommon.
My name is Aileen..I hate my name! People always mispronounce it uh-leen or eye leen. If my name was pronounced Eye- leen'then it would be spelled Eileen. However it is Aileen AI'makes the long a sound! Frankly I am sick of having to correct people multiple times before they can get it right. does anyone else with this name feel this way❤️
my fRiEndS uSuaLly miSpR0n0uncEd It's0me says iTs EILeEn.. .bUt i f0und oNe,wh0 haS the'saMe naMe w/ miNe.. .
It's my name and I have always loved it! People outside of Ireland constantly pronounce it Eileen which can get very annoying but that probably has alot to do with how they depict my accent! I don't know many other Aileen's which is great and couldn't think of any other name I'd rather have!
It's my middle name! I love it even more than my first name, but I generally use first name. I love the name Aileen, It's so gentle and beautiful. Almost nobody knows that I am Aileen, because I use it in official situations, and when I was little girl, my dad sometimes used my both names. And also when I wrote in my diary, I used the name Aileen, It's more romantic. I don't tell ordinary people what's my middle name, this is my sweetest, top secret, only my dearest friends and family can call me Aileen, but they do it very seldom. My both names are so different. First - so strong, but also feminine, and middle - delicate, gentle and girly. This name fits me, It's Irish, and I love Ireland, even'though I'm BrIt'sh. All things, which are Celtic or Irish are dear for me.
I love my middle name I chose to go by it instead of my first name when I got older. I do however get tired of having to correct people so I spell it A-leen.
Aileen is a very pretty name and very ideal for a girl. But I think Aylin is a nice name too and It'sounds better in my opinion :)
This name is really ordinary. If you are looking for a unique name--this is not it.
My name is Aileen. It is not pronounced eye-LEAN! If it was it would be spelt Eileen. It is Ai so is a long Aye sound. In Spain they always pronounce it correctly because they recognise the Ai sound.
My name is Aileen after my grandma. I don't know what to think of it. Why couldn't I have a common name like Jessica or Emily❤️ But still, i've learned to love my nickname "Aily". Much better alternative to "Jess" or "Em"!
My mothe's name was Aileen and when I was born she gave it to me as my middle name. That has to be the best thing I have ever received. I truly love the name I think it is beautiful.
Awesome name, naturally, since I named my daughter Erin Aileen. Aileen is typically pronounced in Ireland as "Ay-leen," wherein the "ay" sounds like a long "a" as in the word "hay"." How inter'sting. That's my name, too, and i've never heard of someone with that combination before.
I love having a unique name like this - I rarely have to use my last name!
It's a harsh sounding ugly name which I had the misfortune to be saddled with. I was teased mercilessly throughout my school years because of this awful name which no one could spell or pronounce correctly. I changed it by deed poll as son as I was legally old enough and still cringe whenever I hear it.
It's reminds me the name of my boyfriend's ex-girlfriend
My name is Aileen ... pronounced i-leen .... when i was six i had a doll and i named it Neelia .... which is Aileen reversed... which is pretty clever for a 6 year old .... im 18 now and still have the doll hahaha
My name is Aileen. It is pronounced with short A as in AHHHH! I kind of get a little frustrated with people having to repeatedly ask me how to spell or pronounce it. I also have a quiet voice so It's difficult. But besides all that, i think it is such a beautiful name. It's so unique and cool how everyone pronounces it their own way. I was named after my great grandmothe's middle name. Again It's pronounced with a short A as in AHHHH. Haha. I have not met anyone with this name yet in person. I hope I can someday when I grow up. However you pronounce your name or whatever it is, just know that you are unique no matter what name belongs to you. :)
The Garrett I know is also a great snuggler. Super'smart and active physically. I'm wondering if other Garrett's are as cute as the one I know...
Not many other people have the name of "Aileen". I pronounce my name as I-leen. But most people say Ay-leen at first. I have also been called Alien.
Make your choice over'silencing the "A" or the "I," (A-leen or I-leen), it is the very unique name of my dear friend, who truly is a "bright shining light." (the literal meaning of the name)
When I was young, some folks called me Nanny or worse - Nannygoat! I hated that. Nancy was a very popular name when I was young and there were several Nancys in my class. As I grew older, I liked the name more and now I am very happy with it. I like that it means grace. I agree with the other comment about liking Nance - I do feel special when someone calls me Nance.
My six year old son is reading a poem by Aileen Fisher at a poetry competition, but when he practices he keeps saying "Upside Down, by Alien Fisher". he's not doing it on purpose, and I pray he won't do it at the festival tomorrow!
Originally a Scottish variant of Eileen, but spreading to the United States before the 19th century's end. Presently, parents in America are more likely to favour Aileen over Eileen, yet the two are neither common nor cool. So how about reversing the name - and it becomes Neelia, and how cool would THIS name be❤️ Neelia, Aileen spelt backwards.
My name is Aileen, and I love how unusual and fitting a name it is for me. I pronounce it 'I-leen'. i've gotten my fair share of people asking me 'Hey, why are you standing crooked❤️' expecting me to say 'Well, I lean.' LOL.
my grandma, mother, my sister and my niece have "Aileen" as there middle name, 4 generations which is pretty cool
My name is Aileen and a lot of people think It's pronounced Eileen. But other than that It's a pretty name
